Are classical guitars really that senstive? I had no idea

You do not need that many classical guitars bro

Yeah, so this guy is a guitar maker actually. These are either products that he sells or models that he keeps for reference.

@Justlaxin5 сағат бұрын
Boveda packs. Cigar stores have higher humidity ones but might carry some lower humidity ones that are suitable for guitars. Otherwise, online or music stores would be your best bet

Hi Marshall, love your videos! I like to experiment with different string tensions, and I always see disparate opinions about changing between high and low tensions. Does this inflict any stress on the guitar? Thanks!

From experience, whose guitars (aside from Brunes) have you found the easiest to repair? Any particular Japanese builders amongst them?

Interesting. Not sure i agree with everything you do. Putting the strings on the bridge fine I do the same as you. Fixing them to the winders on the head? Slightly different. I can see your point but I've been threading the thinner strings the E and B through the winder twice for the last 40 or 50 years and it hasn't caused the tiniest problem. But maybe I'll try out your idea next time I change the strings. I'm always willing to learn a better system. Stretching the strings: you say don't pull them up but famous guitarists have pulled the strings up at the 12 fret while they tighten them, initially. And recommended it. People such as Julian Bream. We all know classical guitar strings stretch like mad. Raising them above the standard pitch half a tone higher is something we all do almost automatically because we all know they will keep stretching and dropping in pitch. You won't succeed in keeping them up in the correct pitch the first time by just raising them once. They will just stretch as all strings do.

But why are wolf notes good? My cheap 350€ guitar has multiple and to me they're frustrating without any benefits. I'm guessing they can be a result of properly voicing a top, which I don't really understand either to be honest. Would you not want a top to amplify all frequencies equally, so it wouldn't have a distinct pitch when tapped?

Digital sucks! The ONLY way I will trust a digital hygrometer to monitor my humidity is if I 1st calibrate it to a sling hygrometer.

Hi great video thanks. Which wood did you use for bending sides? im using oregon pine at the moment, same process but wood doesnt bend and behave as good.

Thamk you, Marshal! I did check my strings and they were dead. Theres still some manifestations of a wolf note were I stated, but its not that bad or dead anymore. If I'm ever near you, I may have you look at it lol You mentioned you have moon spruce. What were if any weird combo of tonewoods that you have seen or dealt with? What were, if any, weirdest woods you dealt with like a tacote top paired with cypress or paloescrito?

Hi! Love your videos! Do you find that the brace material matters in terms of the fan bracing for the top? Also, I was wondering what was the brace material used for Rob's guitar? I think you mentioned in that video that it was a cousin of cedar or something like that. Thanks for all the vids/info on your channel!!

I thought the only real application for fanned frets was reintroducing tension back into detuned strings. Don't really see how that applies to classical guitars unless they are baritone or bass classicals.

Why don't you reinforce your necks with carbon or ebony like a lot of modern buliders? Also, is there anything that can be done about refinishing a cashew finished guitar like a Sakurai-Kohno-Kimishima outside Japan?

Marshall, what oil do you use? Aren't you concerned about the oil damaging the wood? Also, interestingly, your treble knot looks a lot like Erez Perelman's knot, though your methods are different.

request - (also hi, big fan) Could you make a video wher you cover the more innovations in building, maybe discussing what luthiers are trying to do and if (to generalise)they were susseccfull eg. Doubly Tops, Latice Brace, Raised Fretboard, sound Ports, 12'18 hole bridges, deeply bowled backs, cutaways etc.

Hey Marshel, I have a question about wolf notes on a classical guitar. What causes a wolf note, and are there any fixes? The reason why I ask is because whenever I play a c natural across the fingerboard, I get a wolf note. The only thing that helps is tuning my guitar to A=435.
@Matthew-tr6io18 күн бұрын
you could test changing the size of the soundhole via screens or sleeves, and if that works try something more permanent.
