He likes being outside roams around the 80 acres checking on things, so if we are off doing something and he wants in but we aren’t around this is a good option for him to stay in and rest. Otherwise he’s in the house every night

Believe it or not dogs used to be kept outside instead of the spoiled princesses they've all become today. Now we can't even let our dogs be dogs because of people getting offended that we don't bring them into their "true home"

These 4wd systems don't use any vacuum lines. They have automatic locking hubs, but they're not vacuum-operated. They're purely mechanical. When you shift into 4wd and the transfer case starts spinning the front driveline, the rotating axle shafts engage a mechanism in the hubs and they automatically lock. To unlock the hubs, you need to shift back into 2wd, shift into reverse, and back up about 10 feet. Going backwards with the axle shafts NOT spinning disengages the mechanism in the hubs and makes them unlock. The automatic hubs are notoriously unreliable, but you easily convert to manual locking hubs.

You are correct I was wrong about there being vacuum lines. Was definitely a learning experience through out, happy I figured it out though!

Sometimes you gotta give it a under 5mph roll to get 4x4 to engage (you'll get the top light, but not the lower 4x4 light). If it's clicking it's trying.....(your hearing the shift motor) If you get the lower light, your xfer case is indeed locked and your front axle shouldn't move freely anymore. If your xfer case is in 4x4 but it's not working, I'd suspect the hubs... they are really terrible, but they are the same model as a few yrs of cherokee's, so they are around at junkyards. I found some and they really help, stock auto hubs are just trash.

I bought one of these about 12yrs ago for $700, had a bad miss. Slapped a set of wires/plugs in it, and put another 100k on it as a work truck, most reliable vehicle in the family fleet. There is really nothing that can't be fixed for $25bucks, and it's so easy to work on. I would start shopping for manual hubs though, those automatic ones are just terrible... they unlock in reverse by design, so you can't use 4x4 in reverse, and K turns on offroads trails are quite difficult.

Great call out on the manual hubs I’ll definitely consider them if I decide to turn it into a plow truck/suv.

I already have the Molassi racing clutch on my NSS250 but does the Costa variator make the scooter accelerate quicker than the stock variator? I have switched over 4 years ago to the face "B" of the Big Ruckus away from the Reflex variator and it helped my acceleration 0 to 45 mph greatly but would you know other than the smoother shifting of the variations is the Costa variator any quicker on acceleration?

Honda service manual for this engine says never to screw the dipstick in to check the oil level on these engines, you must only insert the dipstick to the start of the threads and remove it to check the oil level. If you screw it in you will be always running the engine approximately .2 or two tenths of a quart low and full oil from empty on an oil change only needs 1.2 quarts according to the sevice manual. On my Reflex NSS250 (same engine) I have found it much easier to get the drain plug threads to align better and quicker by for one thing using a 6 point socket and not a 12 point when reassembling and use a long extension in the socket when starting, by hand, to rethread the drain plug. I found it much easier to control the drain plug angle when fighting the spring tension with this method. I fought with trying to do it with my fingers also when I first bought the bike and it is just more of a pain to do it like that. Also with the socket and extension there is much less chance of crossing the threads.😁

Wow! Sorry for all the loss you have experienced. I'm glad you are okay and hope Minnesota is the right place for you & yours. I look forward to your content. I picked-up a '05 Big Ruckus with 3,400 miles on it a few weeks ago (from Minneapolis, MN - I'm in Colorado Springs, CO) and have enjoyed your content as I am going through it and getting all the delayed maintenance done. It's such a fun machine and I'd like to plan an epic ride on it in the next year or two.

I know it’s to each is own but why are you doing this , in my opinion with the breather set up you are installing is not gonna fair well for you if you get caught in a rain storm, the only thing I changed on mine was the rollers and it made a big difference in top end and take off , it’s way more than I need I’m leaving the rest of it alone

Hi great video. I used NCY 12g rollers and managed to get the bike up to 52mph. But at the top end speed I’m getting a vibration, any thoughts on why? I did notice the 12g rollers have different looking sides on them. Do you know if they all have to go in the same direction? 12g Rollers did not come with any directions and can’t seem to find any information or videos on it. Thank you

Pardon me for being contrary but if the weights are lighter you will get a faster acceleration and mid range but a lower top end. Heavier weights result in a higher top end and slower acceleration. Heavier weights result in a higher top end and slower acceleration. I would really like to see somebody put in some slightly heavier weights to see if they get more top speed.

The rear is proper size the front is a smaller size than stock can’t remember the size off the top of my head. 120/70 I believe
