Nettles left Midsomer Murders in 2011 because the producer Brian True-May left the series in 2011. True-May left because the WOKE execs decided that the show lacked racial diversity. True-May suggested that if Caroline Graham wanted more racial diversity, she would have written the novels that True-May produced with that in mind.

This makes me so sad, I love DCI Tom Barnaby. I really like the "new" DCI John Barnaby too.

My favorite actress ever---she was beautiful, talented and could interpret ,to perfection, the full gamut of the roles they gave her . By the way there is a biography of her life coming out in June 2022, written by Michelangelo Capua. This is the only biography that will have been written about Jean Simmons...it was about time. Fantastic actress, beautiful woman and great human being.

Yes indeed a great beauty and aged gracefully no borax mask. Great photos thanks, sorry their is no biography written about her life. She acted with such greats as Robert Mitchum, Cary Grant, Laurence Olivier, Marlon Brando, to name but a few.

Allowing for her being female; the British movie market being smaller than the US's; and with her career under the thumbs of several powerful men, Jean Simmons could match Marlon Brando's accomplishments notch-for-notch. She was as great a star as Brando. She won Best Actress Golden Globe award for "Guys and Dolls" 1956. She has had several Academy awards nominations. She had played "bad girl" roles. She had Shakespeare under her belt at 18 (Ophelia in Hamlet) whereas Brando got his at 31 (Marc Antony in Julius Caesar). She could sing and dance better than he did. She was beautiful, intelligent, and just as charismatic. Moreover, Jean Simmons was an OBE. So why is Brando considered the greatest star but not Jean Simmons?
