What's the difference between the half guard and one guard open?

One guard all the way open=one and half, at the same time, you used it to fade just after using one and half guard... ain't this repeating the same thing? I'm confused

FYI, one point five is mathematically the same as one and a half. Great tutorials but you need to get the guards straight. It's a one point five (AKA one and a half) and then the point five guard (aka half guard)

Bro this is probably one of the best most informative instruction videos I have seen. I’m debating cutting my son and I’s hair. We have one of the best barbers I’ve ever had as far as cuts and customer service but this is something I want to do myself plus it will save some money as well.
