Here is the truth growing up with this game. Exhibition match, being a fan of wrestling and watching weekly, and having good imagination was all you needed to have a blast all year long. WWF/WWE games in general was like this. You could argue the roster was little limited by the time came out, but lets be honest almost every WWE game had that problem. Always a handful of wrestlers missing. If someone uses that as a legit compliant then that's just wild to me. The story mode absolutely could have been longer. However with game FAQs there are different routes you can go for different belts and story angles. Not super long still but different. Plus the shorter storylines to become champion was fun to me and then defending it in the story mode was enjoyable as well with some of the random opponents. With that being said WWF/WWE 2000-2001 was an amazing roster and time to be a fan. Going back and playing this is always a blast. That brothers of destruction entrance for example being a timeless highlight for me.

I played this for hours as a kid. The fighting in the crowd was the best part. I wish the newer games would allow fighting in the crowds.

While there's no denying the shortcomings of this game, I've always had a soft spot for it. Something about it is just charming, even down to the iconically laughable commentary. While it'll never be SYM or HCTP, I definitely pop this one in every once in a while. I am surprised to hear someone put over auto targeting. While I don't think this game did targeting well, I thought everyone hated auto targeting. I personally was never a fan of it myself. It just created frustrating situations in multi-man matches by removing a little bit of nuance in the control for me.

TBH it's just a new version SD2 for next generation with very weak season, but very good roster and...yeah, I think this is good choice to play with friends if you are tired of HCTP and first SvR

Definitely a better version of know your role. The one thing the fell flat was people anticipating the graphics to be better. Especially with the trailer that came out… Shut your mouth made that graphical improvement that just bring it failed to do

I played this a LOT back them. Along with Tekken 5 and Rocky Legends, I just beat everybody up. So good times

I used to play this all the time. Square is the reversal button and you can reverse everything. Playing against friends was so much fun
