Ain't no way I would drive the bearing home whole having the vice hold the other side of the uni yoke. Too much force, they aren't designed for that. Definitely would have clamped the nearside yoke.

@@Homebrewwhisky not everyone can afford the more expensive option. The whole idea of this video is to help people have a crack at simple jobs themselves and save money. The caprice is just going to be a burnout car so limited use compared to a daily but will be spinning a lot faster 🤣 If it doesn’t last I can replace it 3 or 4 times and still be better off compared to buying an expensive bearing

@ would you go formula blue handles and black the chrome around the windows. That’s how the blue meanies were from factory. Black handles and blacked out chrome just looks more modern. It’s hard to bring yourself to paint good chromes. They’re getting hard to get huh

I haven’t actually driven it yet. Just finished engine build and reinstalling engine this week. It’s gonna spend most of its life at high rpm so we will see how long it lasts. 🤞

Make sure you put that strut mount washer on the correct way ! If you have it what we would normally Concider the normal way it will bite into the bump stop , or bushings depending where your are replacing bushings on ya car . They basically go in upside down so the edges are facing upwards & not biting into rubber bushings. Cheers from Bundaberg Qld 🕺🍹👍

They built Erina Fair Shopping Complex on it 🙈👎 We would smuggle couple of mates into the drv inn in boot of our cars along with box beer 👍 My parents had a Pool Room / Games centre at Long Jetty in the mid 70's & a Milk Bar in Umina. I hear the central coast is built out now & Ettalong has had a face lift & all the Pubs between Umina - Woy Woy - Ettalong , im going back there at Christmas to see family & friends for 2 weeks 😃👍

Process to change the centre bearing would be the same. Statesman, Ute and wagon tailshaft are longer than a commodore sedan tailshaft though.

hey mate do commodore diffs fit into the caprice stato? got a wh that needs a diff and not sure if i can use one out of a ute, wagon etc also want to know if v6 can go into v8 just to move around the house

@@normang2455 the diff itself can be swapped from statesman to sedan etc. the only difference that will stop them bolting in would be the flange. They can either be a 4 bolt flange or 3 bolt flange. The flanges are interchangeable but it would be easier to just find one with the right flange. You don’t need a diff in them to push them around

Hey mate. I believe the v6 diffs are an M78 and will have a 4 bolt flange to mate to the tailshaft whereas the v8 diffs are an M80 and have a 3 bolt flange. You can change the flanges either way though. What are you trying to do?

@@100reality2 lol you’d think so. The paint looks good from far but it’s far from good. On the rear quarters anyway. There is plenty of belt slap on the back doors and bumpers too. The diff is about 50mm shorter than standard each side too so that helps pull the wheels inboard and minimise slap 👌

I installed the exact same extractors and cats that you did, but now my LS1 is running rough. No warning lights on dash and I installed new leads. Maybe replace O2 sensors?

@@Hardtarget87jcvd check over all of your wiring connections, and check your plug leads to make sure they’re connected to the plugs properly. Check O2 plugs are connected and any other plugs or sensors you disturbed while installing them. Don’t go replacing your O2 sensors before checking the simple things. Better off double checking everything and connecting a scan tool before throwing money at parts that you might not need

There’s no markings or brand on the mufflers or any of the exhaust so I’m not sure exactly what they are. I bought the exhaust second hand. If you go back to the video at 2:50 you’ll see the mufflers look slightly smaller than the factory ones and the inlet and outlet are straight in line. Also there’s no rear muffler at all which makes it sound better too. 👍

Best to check your universal joint for wear while you have the shaft separated, check for roughness and stiffness as this can cause the destruction of your hanger bearing in the first place, 😮

Uni joints/donuts are all sweet. You’re right though, need to do proper maintenance and inspections of these as they are wear items

I bought my parts off eBay. The vz commodore suspension may be different to the caprice stuff. Definitely double check before ordering. The item description in the eBay ad should say if parts are suitable for your model

@@HaveACrackGarage I took it out yesterday and pulled it apart, took the mount off and top plate lifted the strut out and found the shock has lost its seal, it's Only been on my car for about 8 months, 🤦 but I've ordered a new one now

My VZ Commodore has a strut noise just replaced a mount but the noise is still there, 🙄 coming from the strut, it sounds like someone hit metal with a mallet

Maybe a couple of mm at most. I’ve heard other people have the same issue as you. Does it drive fine with no clunking? Strut doesn’t move up and down if you have the front jacked up?

After doing my struts which were rooted amd replaced bump stop, bearing , strut top the top plate has a small gap and some movement, Is that normal, is bump stop free or positioned.
