Little known fact but all of these contestants are from the Los Angeles area. They're told to say where they were born so as to give the impression that people all over the country are playing this game. If you check out the guy at 21:00 who answered Twister, he would later go on to be one of the geeks in the game show Beat The Geeks

Wow! I had no idea they were all from the LA area! Then again Jackie from the last team is from Montebello which is part of Los Angeles and Curtis is from Cathedral City which I THINK (I could be mistaken) is also part of LA. Also these contestants from this 2-hour premiere are contestants who were on other game shows so I think the producers were experimenting here. I think a lot of people already are aware that Andy is from Beat the Geeks.

The year 2000 felt so futuristic while we lived it. Kids my age wanted a Razor scooter, or the upcoming Playstation 2. EVERYONE wanted a DVD player, and it really displayed the picture with a clarity unseen on those old VCRs. I remember it being really rainy that year, kinda foggy, even down here in SoCal. I listened to Fuel and Train a lot, and I really got into Coldplay's first album. The future felt like it was ours. We basically got an extra year of the 90s with a futuristic, post-Y2K sheen on it. It was ours but we somehow lost it along the way. Rest in peace to those innocent souls lost since. It was the end of our last golden age.

One thing I don't get about the show is when the captain goes for it after the $100,000 question, he/she doesn't consider "The Terminator" could eliminate a teammate. When the questions get harder, the captain could only change one answer. Why does the captain go for the $200,000 question considering "The Terminator" (they could be eliminated) and the freebie?
@hiltonlive32grnrngr9 ай бұрын
Actually, if you think about it, the Terminator possibly removing a player from the game actually makes it easier. How? After a Terminator match is played before the $200,000 question, the team then goes from being a team of five to a team of four, including a Captain, who will bear the responsibility of giving the third answer before either deciding to lock those original answers in or change one. If the captain disagrees with an answer they can toss one and switch it with something else. So technically the captain would be giving two answers on $200,000 if they have three teammates sitting in front of them. Also you seem to be forgetting that if three answers are shown to be correct the captain is offered a bribe of 10% of whatever the question is worth if they don't feel the last answer is correct. Plus they can use a freebie if they feel the question is too hard. Besides, the person the Terminator lands on doesn't have to challenge someone else. It just always happened more times than not because of the $10,000 bribe.
@AA-dd3we3 ай бұрын
Most people would go past the $100,000 because of risk-reward calculations. Not everyone did; a group of college kids weren't remotely upset when their captain stopped there. But it was extremely rare.
@hiltonlive32grnrngr3 ай бұрын
@@AA-dd3we Throughout the entire run of the show, there were only three teams that froze after the $100,000 including one of the college tournament teams you mentioned. The other two were much earlier in the show's run and their teammates looked super upset that their captains chickened out of going for $200,000.

Yes, I think that was the category/question reused for Phyllis Harris' group on Super Greed. Then again, LT had already used the Freebie on that horse breeds question and playing the $500k question with no Freebie is quite dangerous with a slim chance of success so i agree with his decision to stick with the $200,000, especially when that question about horses was a bit tricky as is.

Given, by getting the closest on the qualifying question, yes. As for "incompetent & stupid", if you want to direct that at Jeff, I'll give you that all day every day. However, I can't say the same for Nick. Yes, he tossed out what turned out to be a correct answer for a wrong one but to Nick's defense, Brian gave the answer on a complete guess admitting he wasn't sure. Nick thought he had a good strategy changing the answer, it just didn't work out in the end.
@l-wolverine221111 ай бұрын
@@hiltonlive32grnrngr As far as Nick, even if he wasn’t that sure, he should’ve trusted his team more than himself. Even Chuck admonished him for talking his way out of the right answer, which is always a red flag in any game show. At times when you’re not sure, it’s always better to go with your Gut instead of your Mouth, like Nick did, and I believe the rest of the team felt the same way like “What Were You Thinking?!”
