La Laguna hosts an important exhibition of the contemporary work of the painter, sculptor, muralist and musician Antonio Otazzo (La Orotava, Tenerife, 1929 - Cagua, Venezuela, 2020). Otazzo emigrated in 1954 to Venezuela where he developed his life and, intensely, his love for the plastic arts. He held numerous exhibitions, won many awards and was on the front pages of newspapers, becoming internationally recognized after his visit to Mexico in 1979. Known as the Dalí of America for his rebellion and original personality, his painting is inspired by masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, of whom he sought perfection, Picasso passion and Dalí creativity, and he did not stop working his entire life with the desire to surpass them. Self-taught impressionist painter, mixed media and free from academic standards, his painting is based on chromatic dissociation. His works stand out in countries such as Venezuela, Mexico, the United States and Europe. In 2016 Otazzo donated his private work to the Otazzo Cultural Association, guarantor of one of the most important artistic funds in the Canary Islands. Otazzo was murdered in Venezuela on July 17, 2020 at the age of 90, making news with international repercussions.

Impresionante ❤ obras llenas de mucho sentimientos y emociones.

Es difícil describir el arte de este genio, interesante recalcar que una obra pictórica del maestro Otazzo, impresiona, eleva transporta, invita a soñar, trasmite paz o advertencia, tranquilidad o preocupación, reposo o excitación , alegría o vergüenza,. Crea una ansiedad constante de comprender el arte a través del órgano del ojo.

Todo un lujo el poder disfrutar de estas magníficas obras de un pintor extraordinario y único en Canarias, villero de Honor de La Orotava y villero universal.

Hay que divulgar,la obra mas allá de las islas,la asociación debiera hacer los contactos necesarios,para ver qué posibilidad hay ,para que estás obras sean expuestas en el museo de lebrun en París,y de igual modo divulgarlas por todo el mundo

Felicitaciones también a la Asociación por ser constante en lograr el objetivo y del cual estoy a la espera para que podamos ver y disfrutar! 😍 todas! las veces que podamos, del museo Otazzo y su depósito, lugares merecidos y necesarios para cuidar, preservar… todos esos extraordinarios colores y expresión invalorable de su arte, donados para la historia y proyectados al mundo desde su lugar de nacimiento, la bella Orotava.
