Very good video. Thanks. The problem is where to get the Chayote seeds or seedlings in Spring. I've heard the smooth-skinned Chayote will not bear fruits in colder climate.

How long should you leave the mums in the water container?

Depending on how dry the soil is, I usually let it absorb water for at least 30 minutes or until the pot feels heavier.

Nice tour Merli! Garden is looking nice. Cucumbers were weird for me this year. Plus so much pest pressure. Picking tomatoes as they change from green is a great way to save the harvest. We have so many dry days followed my heavy rains causing tomatoes to split.

Thank you. I use a fertigation system for this garden. I use a water soluble fertilizer that is gradually added to the water when I run the irrigation. Since we didn't have rain for a very long time before this day, I ran my fertigation system for 30 minutes every morning. It keeps the plants happy. Yes, the fabric helps keep some moisture in the soil

Nice looking vine system you've got growing there. A bit off topic, but I was wondering about how your efforts with moringa are going. I have been growing about 30 + moringa trees in containers for the last year or 2 and have only planted one in ground this spring. (2024) All others get cut back and containers are brought inside every fall before frost. (I am in Zone 7a southern Missouri) I am curious to know if you have planted moringa in ground and what steps you may have taken to protect them for overwintering outside if you have done so, and whether that was successful or not. Thanks for any info you can provide. I am always interested in successes (and failures) of growing gardens in Zone 7a.
@GardeninginKentuckyАй бұрын
I plant moringa in the ground in the spring and pull it before the first fall frost. Moringa does not survive outdoors during the winter in my area. I tried leaving one on the ground one year, cut it down the soil level, and added a thick mulch, but it ended up rotting. So now they all need to be indoors until the danger of frost is over. I don't have to plant the stalks in a pot. The bigger stalks will stay fresh all winter and still fresh enough for planting the next spring.
@johnsparks007Ай бұрын
@@GardeninginKentucky I've heard good things about Moringa plants health benefits is it true? If so is it the leaves or the seeds or the roots?
@GardeninginKentuckyАй бұрын
@johnsparks007 we usually use the leaves in soup. Some people use the seeds.

Hi mam.. I am from Idaho.. I grow a purple sweet potato in a pot. It’s edible the purple sweet potato too? I’m afraid to eat, I have so many sent questions to a gardener in KZbin and Facebook but no reply.. hope to hear from you mam ☺☺☺ thank u .. jenny
@GardeninginKentucky2 ай бұрын
I was told that there are ornamental sweet potatoes. Probably the reason why they did not reply is because they are not sure if your sweet potatoes are edible. I, too, cannot confirm if the sweet potatoes that you are growing are edible. The ones I'm growing are sweet potatoes that grow real tubers, and I eat the leaves of this plant.

@@GardeninginKentucky hi mam I bought organic purple sweet potato in store and i just left in pantry for few days and started to grow some shoots small leaves..so I plant in a pot and grow well, just wondering if the leaves from the tubes can eat or edible? Thank you for your response mam… jenny

I take it you wait until the corn is knee high to apply?
@GardeninginKentuckyАй бұрын
Yes, that's what I do. The ground already has a slow-release fertilizer before planting. Corn is a heavy feeder, so it needs a second feeding when the plant is about knee high.
