My boys just got this exact set for Christmas. They love it. Not gonna lie runs really smooth.. smoother then I figured it would. I've had rolling stock and the couplers ain't the best. (Zipties fixed the issue.) So I didn't have high hopes for the locomotive. I was wrong and pleasantly surprised.

It's a beautiful menards set ain't it. Runs better then I expected. My boys got the Milwaukee road one and they haven't let it have a rest yet.they keep running it like they are I'm gonna be giving it real bearings cuz it'll need em. Lol.

Yes both sets are very nice. I'm super happy. I hate it when these guys in here foba review thung and just criticize the crap out of things. I hate it because they are ruining it for some folks.

@dennisb-trains23 agreed. One thing I have an issue with about the menards trains is the couplers. Zipties are easy to get and a good fix. Might not be able to do switching operations, but cars aren't just separating either. Outta all the issues they could have I'll take the weak couplers. Lol

They do sell a units that are “dummy” which means they don’t need power.

It is pretty nice! I like the Milwaukee Road too. I have a red Milwaukee road box car too from the 70s. I had one back then withy wabash steam engine train from 1978 i believe
