How long did it take for the pumpkin to get big?
@JoshuaScottYGBeats3 жыл бұрын
I just began planting this year. Started with watermelon and canteloupe. All trial and error but theyre doing great. Started late in july tho so i definitely wont see any fruit. Pumpkin is definitely on the list for next year. Doing my research with these videos. You have a great video keep up the good work.

I've seen a couple of comments asking about flowers on the plant so I'll go ahead and explain because I enjoy explaining😂: Many plants such as any type of squash including cucumber, watermelon, pumpkin, zucchini, and melons or plants such as tomatoes bloom after a certain point in their growth. The first flower to bloom are known as male flowers because they do not carry the baby fruit or vegetable. Instead, they for, a week or two before the female flowers to attract pollinators like bees. Female flowers can be seen before they bloom and are identified based off of the baby fruit or vegetable behind them. By the time these flowers bloom, it is only a matter of time before the baby fruit or vegetable becomes big and ready to pick. Pumpkins take longer usually depending on of they are bigger because of the time it takes them to become big. However, by the time a female flower blooms on something such as a squash plant, it only takes days before you can pick the squash. I hope this is helpful:)

Thank you Isabella Russell. Question: How many seeds do you figure the guy planted? 2-3?
@isabellarussell12845 жыл бұрын
Leigh B. Sorry for the late reply.... It looks like their could be about four or five plants there. It's always good to plant quite a few, especially if you want a better chance of harvest but the vines do get extremely long. Pumpkins can be more difficult to get fruits from with only one plant though.

Leaves look a bit yellow, pumpkins are hungry for nutrient, maybe mulch next year's spot deeply with grass clippings to add richness to the soil. Bonus: pumpkins cleaner underneath

I expected the vines to get much bigger than they did, but maybe this was a small variety.

The plant wasn't given enough nutrition, as you see the plant dying out in some area and pumpkins not fully maturing.
