Have you tried drop D and palm mute?
@HandyL21 күн бұрын
Drop D!!!? That’s for hardcore punk heavy metal and Radiohead 🙂↔️🖐🏽 that’s the devil’s music 🤘🏽😈🤘🏽 😆 the only head banging in this house is when father Pat bumps your head against the baptismal dish 🤘🏽😈🤘🏽 I don’t really do drop D and the only non standard tunings I’ve played were to just learn Radiohead songs. I do regularly have a guitar tuned in E flat and I recently started playing my classical guitar in C# by pure accident. The neck was being stressed and I tuned down until it was straight enough, tada! C#. C natural is past the limit and strings don’t have enough tension. But yeah, C# is nice. I like the lower registers. I’ve been wanting to buy a Baritone guitar for the past few years. There’s a few cheapies around the $250 range that I’ve been eyeing on eBay.
@trueekko21 күн бұрын
@HandyL I usually play acoustic, so drop d doesn't sound so crunchy when I play it, but I know what you mean. Sometimes I tune my whole guitar to open D and it makes it really easy to play, with a bright, beautiful sound
@HandyL21 күн бұрын
@ yes! It’s a different kind of ride 😃👍🏽 the lesser tension in the strings along with lower bass notes gives the instrument a different feel. Like violin versus viola. I played the viola for a year or two when my daughter was taking violin lessons. She eventually quit after a year but i kept playing. Easy to pick up, the guitar skills translate over. Just need to learn how to use the bow which is an art in itself and takes a lifetime to master. Honestly if given the choice to be stranded on a deserted island and could only play one for the rest of my life, I’d choose a viola or violin over the guitar. The sound that you can get from a violin or viola is a whole another level above guitar. It’s harder than guitar but the reward you get from work and practice is so much more satisfying. The range in tone and amplitude along with vibrato and dynamics make sounds that move through you and have an impact that is otherworldly. The first time i did a successful vibrato with a really clean and dynamic note i was hooked! It was like a drug, it was Crack! Guitar face is a joke, they’re all faking it 🤣 yeah yeah, you’re in the groove and playing so clean etc. violin face is shrooms whippets mixed with ketaminecstacy, guitar face is Coors light and decaf coffee 🤣✌🏽

Modified clone
@HandyL21 күн бұрын
I think Deerseeker buys stock bows from overseas suppliers and doesn’t produce their own designs. I bought a Turkish bow listed as Deerseeker and when it arrived I could tell right away that it’s a clone or the same bow as two other high end expensive bows I’ve seen online. It was an incredible value and worth way more than the $125 I spent on it. I have an OMA Edge longbow that is definitely a copy/clone of the Scorpion longbow that sells for double the price of the OMA.

I felt the same way about my archery videos, those videos were just for fun and I had no actual goal for them. The music and guitar videos are different for me. Maybe because I’ve been playing music a lot longer and songwriting is such a strong passion of mine. I have goals for my music and it’s something I will never put down like I did with archery. As much as I love archery, if I don’t get back into it I’ll be okay. I don’t feel the same way about music. Music has always been on and off for me having taken long breaks and never really focusing on it. When I started playing piano everything changed. I always wanted to play the piano as a kid but ended up with a trumpet that I hated then guitar because everyone had one so there was always one laying around. I played guitar for a few years without ever having my own, just played friend’s guitars so I never really got into it but I knew how to play it. I was made to play the piano and saxophone. I got pretty good at Clarinet and saxophone in my twenties and am going to start playing clarinet again. I don’t have a piano right now so I’m stuck playing the guitar 😞 I’m definitely not a guitarist, those guys are egotistical buttheads 😂 Guitarists are like the popular jocks in high school whereas the piano players are nerdy smart honors students lol. Love you brother,cheers ✌🏽

@HandyL I taught myself how to play the guitar... And I am old
@HandyL2 ай бұрын
I feel like music theory comes easier to those who are older or more mature. It can be tedious and boring if you don’t have an interest in it. Thanks for commenting. I’m getting kind of sick of the term ‘self taught guitarist’ being associated with lacking music knowledge and/or technique. 👍🏽
@patoni8602 ай бұрын
@HandyL I was 52 years old before I even knew there was such a thing as music theory, now I'm 64 and I teach music theory. It Don't come easy for nobody it just depends on how much gumption you got to put into it... And none of it has to do with how much you play
@HandyL2 ай бұрын
64!!! I just uploaded a rendition of ,When I’m 64’ the other day. Yes you are absolutely correct. Practicing and learning theory are two different things. I really got into studying theory when I was playing the piano regularly. Kind of can’t really do one without the other, playing piano and learning music theory. It’s so easy to understand and visualize it when sitting at a piano.

@HandyL3 ай бұрын
I personally don’t see how CAGED helps. It Isn’t really anything unless you know the note of the root of the chord as you bar the shape and go up the neck.
@HandyL3 ай бұрын
It’s more about seeing the intervals pattern on the neck. The way BC is stacked above EF. The intervals form a sort of staircase that repeats as it goes up the guitar neck.
@dogzzen15203 ай бұрын
@@HandyL The point of CAGED is getting a better overview of the fretboard. This also includes learning where the root notes are. Then you can start seeing the different intervals. It sounds like you think CAGED is just a pattern and nothing else, but the pattern is only the start.

It’s the major and minor pentatonic scales combined together in G#. Add chromatic lines flat seventh, seventh, and root etc. wherever there is a 1 3 pattern in the minor pentatonic box, make it 1 2 3 and use hammer ons and pull offs to make the quick runs.
