@SharynsSewingSchool

If it consistently breaking the lower looper thread at around the same distance, it is generally a threading issue. Unthread the machine completely and rethread from scratch, working from right to left. If it is breaking at random distances, you are looking at: 1. Lower looper tension being too tight for the thread, in which case changing the thread cones may sort it out. 2. Damage to the needles. If the left needle has damage it may cause a problem for the lower looper thread, if the right needle has damage it may cause a problem with the upper looper thread. 3. Damage to loopers. If the loopers get scratched the thread will catch on them. Sometimes you can feel the scratch with your fingernail. This will need a technician to sort out. They can sometimes brush out this sort of damage and sometimes the looper needs to be replaced. Hope this helps! 😃

Outstanding!!! again, I am learning more from your videos than anywhere else, thank you so much Sharon. Can I ask, is it possible to ADD different size hoops to these machines? if perhaps I wanted something in a larger square than the SQ20b.
@SharynsSewingSchool
@SharynsSewingSchool Ай бұрын
@KeithLeggett-k6e Hi, the only hoops that your machine can operate are the ones in the hoop list in the edit screen. The limit is 20 cm wide because that is how much distance there is between the needle and the body of the machine. The only way to do bigger in Janome is to get an MC15000 or a CM17. The 15k will do 23 cm, and the CM17 will do 28 cm.

@@SharynsSewingSchool Thank you, Sharon. I'm a fairly inexperienced sewist and could not justify the cost of a Janome (yet!), so went with an entry-level mechanical machine. That allows a larger budget for fabrics and notions so that I can get more projects under my belt. I'll be looking at the Janome models once I am more experienced and am in a position to upgrade. When searching for machines this time around, I found a few that I liked at a more affordable price point, but they were not available for purchase in the US. I suppose it has something to do with whether a given model is configured for the standard electrical current in, say, the UK vs the US. But one day, I'll have a machine with more capabilities. I especially would like a machine with a lock stitch, automatic cutter, and maybe a built-in laser pointer. One day. 😄

I enjoyed this technique of sew as u go . I'm getting too old to sandwich & free motion quilt my Queen size quilts . Q: Design wall ... I noticed the tape is only horizontal , you need to tape vertical as well to cover the zig-zag stitch. What is your solution to avoid a thick cross-over ? 😊😊😊
@SharynsSewingSchool
@SharynsSewingSchool Ай бұрын
@suzanneritchie7048 you are correct, I have completed the wall hanging now, and the vertical coverings are done too. Surprisingly, the crossovers don't get too thick. They are even less stiff if the squares are cut with just shy of half an inch, and the tape is made one inch. I try to avoid stiff fabric for the tape.
