Thanks for saying that in such a concise way. I onec wrote a paper for my Grade 12 CE class in a christian school that had many opinions on the grey areas of conduct that Jesus hoped that our relationship with him would give us the wisdom in the situations we find ourselves in, to make a choice that brings healing and not hurt to the soul of mankind. And this was also the verse that brought me to the same same conclusion. Now your answers will be different depending on your situation. But if what you are doing that you dont have an issues with causes your brother or sister stumbled and you do not bring correction and self control, to your self to help your struggling family especially if that area is not specifically mentioned in the bible then really you have to ask yourself have i prayed and ask jesus what it is he wants from me so that my example dose not make stumbling easier for your family in christ or your witnesses to the world around you. And i have examples from different situations that require a different answer on the same topic for it to be the right answer in that instance. And yes it's not easy to change how we live but if its not " not that dig a deal" then i guess the change shouldn't be that big a deal either. Now the challenge is how much resistance your flesh will put up. Working out your faith with fear and trembling before God not because god will punish you but because how we live our lives matters to saving ministry jesus has asked us all to be apart of . Sorry for the book and rant but this has been one of the biggest causes of friction i have found in my relationship with other belivers because there was never any solid study and teaching on how to handle the gray topics in church. Just alot mixed reviews from different peoples points of view at the time.

Is freedom in Christ really a permissiveness to commit whatever sentence do you want? Freedom in Christ does not give you license to do whatever you want. Not if you follow him who said "if ye love me keep my commandments and if any man will follow me let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me"

Millions have been murdered in the name of religions like Christianity not sure how anyone can be on board with that. I doubt Jesus would be either

I don't think a biblical forgiveness of others requires repentance. I think of Jesus's command to forgive 70×7, without measure. This, in my mind, is getting out of Gods way. We are warned by Jesus that we can not be forgiven unless we forgive, that the measure of forgiveness we use will be used against us. I also think of Isaiah 55:7. LET THE WICKED FORSAKE THEIR WAYS AND THE UNRIGHTEOUS THEIR THOUGHTS.... I think we "let" by forgiving. Forgiveness is what seems to lead to repentance, not the other way around.
