I’m happy that the Northumberland Line is now reopened to passengers. Very good news for people who want to travel into Newcastle instead of using buses or car.

@@CC-Cobalt-1043 I had a great morning out - the atmosphere on the first train from Newcastle to Ashington was fantastic. I briefly jumped off and then on to the train again to ride to Seaton Delaval for the trip which you recorded. After a short look around Seaton Delaval station, I got the next Ashington bound train, which wasn't late, so there was a few minutes to look at Ashington station before getting back on and returning to Newcastle.

As usual, a good selection of trains at Newcastle What rail company is your favourite ? My wife and I like LNER and we travelled with them to Newcastle from Edinburgh this week.

@@CC-Cobalt-1043 We may be visiting Cardiff next year, but the worrying element would be having to travel with CrossCountry, which always seems to get poor reviews. I travelled once with them, Newcastle to Durham and it was packed. People were sitting on the floor, but luckily I grabbed a sea, for the 15 minute ride .. NEVER AGAIN !!

I am not at all surprised that I am the first to post a comment here; considering that the design of these original T&W trains was shite at best; I am a native Londoner, even our London Underground trains built during the 1930's looked better than these T&W trains built 50 years later.

After probably 20+ years without being on a proper train journey (I don't include the T&W Metro) my wife and I have had a few mini breaks over the past 12 months (London x2, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and Liverpool) and we have found LNER brilliant. We bought a two-together railcard, coupled with early booking we have had some great deals. We haven't been on LNER first class yet, but maybe next year. We went to Manchester a couple of weeks ago and actually got our first ever first class tickets, on TPE from Doncaster. We didn't get anything to drink or eat, so we weren't too impressed. Yeah LNER are good, I'm also working on uploading another first class trip from Edinburgh I did back in August, thst one is set later in the day so it covers the main meal part of first class
