Que de souvenirs...J'étais à la 1ère, la salle était en délire. La Représentation qui dure 2hs entracte inclus, dura près de 2h30 tellement il y eut de bravi, rappels.... Des spectateurs afficionados attendirent June Anderson & Alfredo Kraus à la sortie de la Salle Favart et les transportèrent à dos d'épaule jusqu'à leur palace comme il se faisait jadis au 19ème siècle pour le divas célébrissimes! Une approche bel cantiste rarement atteinte. C'est magnifique du début à la fin, un rôle épuisant pour la sopran qui chante tout le temps (interview de June Anderson l'année suivante chez Eve Ruggieri) et qui conclut ses arias par des suraigus. Ce fut un tel succès que la maison de disque EMI décida d'un enregistrement sur le vif !

Dommage que KZbin n’existait pas avant 1995, mon père aurait été le plus heureux des hommes de pouvoir voir et écouter tout ce que nous offre ce site de musiques classiques et surtout d’opéras plus beaux les uns que les autres. Merci KZbin!

Il faudrait généraliser les sous-titres d’abord pour la compréhension des paroles chantées et savoir ainsi ce qui est exprimé dans l’action sur scène et ensuite pour la traduction dans la langue du pays si nécessaire.

You don’t get tired of it, even when you know it from the first note to the last and vice-versa. As I am 93 and Alfredo Kraus remains the greatest ever opera singer and actor I still feel immensely grateful to be living now in the age of informatics. You must understand when I was a child you had to be well to do even to have a radio, concerts were too expensive. Then the war came and eventually we entered a new age. Only our Brussels opera was affordable…if you were willing to climb up to the fourth floor. Only with our own singers - many of them very good - of course. We loved opera and when finally there came the simple recorders it was like heaven on earth. It became possible for everyone to discover what opera really meant. Alfredo Kraus was only four years older than I and he soon became my favourite though some of the greatest sang in those times. I can still hear and see almost perfectly, which does not imply walking 🤣😂 I am grateful for every opera I can look at and listen to. Thank you for posting so many masterpieces.

Interesting that he seems to change the words slightly. Very hard to hear. I wonder what he's saying. Could be an honest slip up in a role he doesn't perform often or an intentional dramatic shift. Beautifully done, though

I appreciate the way they made such brutal and graphic display of Melchtal's murder at the end of the act, such a crucial plot point. In most productions he's standing and singing along with the chorus as the curtain falls

Il primo Turco in Italia che ho guardato su KZbin anni fa. Bella regia e scenografia, grandi cantanti. Ottimo il Selim di Pertusi: bella voce, piacevole coloratura e grande agilità ( meno credibile in Verdi a mio parere dove manca un po' di volume e profondità). 🎉🎵👏👏👏

E' VERO! non si può vivere nel passato, purtroppo, si deve guardare avanti ma, grazie a dio, ci sono registrazioni che tengono vivida la memoria.....qui si evince, senza dubbio alcuno, la debolezza ( colpa di un pubblico sempre più ignorantemente plaudente) e la decadenza di una grande arte.....se si paragonano a kraus sutherland questi da "bravi" diventano due studenti del secondo anno che fanno la revita di fine anno

Basta coi paragoni al passato. Devia è l'ultima grande belcantista. Ce ne fossero oggi. Alvarez non sarà Kraus e neppure Aragall ma che oggi potrebbe cantare meglio? Sono bravissimi. Bravissimo anche Pertusi in un ruolo che è per vocalità di basso baritono. E cosa dire della Barcellona: grandissima

J’ai toujours considéré Caballé au sommet de l’histoire de l’opéra, mais à Ermione, il ne chantait plus. Je l’ai vue à Ermione en avril 1988 à Madrid et c’était vraiment dommage. Aujourd’hui, je vis subjugué par tout ce qu’il a chanté avant, mais déjà en 1986, dans un récital au Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires avec accompagnement de piano, sa présence était testimoniale mais décadente.
