@oraclescave I have an old 12v acid battery. It was bone dry when I opened it up so I added distilled water to soak the plates & charged it but the charger isn't completing the charge. I'm wondering if I should drain out the battery, then flush with distilled water till it's fairly clear and fill with the original fluid or just leave the new distilled water and try to charge it up? 🤔 Any suggestions?
@oraclescaveАй бұрын
@JohnDoe-md2sb crystallisation happens inside the battery where the old liquid has transformed into these crystals and covered the plates, there is a way to try and reverse this. But yes just water will not allow a full circuit, so there needs to be electrolytes like fresh hydrochloric acid 20%. But you can try reversing the terminals for short periods with the water you have in it just now. Just put charge leads the wrong way around, only in short bursts, so 10's of seconds at a time, not hours at a time. This will make the crystals come away from the cell plates and eventually allow to charge again, but even though it will charge again, the power will be very little and no real good. My suggestion would be to put fresh hydrochloric acid 20% into the cells and it will be good as new again. Remember to wear eye protection incase of splashes.
@JohnDoe-md2sbАй бұрын
@oraclescave Thanks for the quick response. Just finished reversing the polarities...had to use spare battery 'cause my Noco smart charger wouldn't cooperate. Gonna drain out the "bad" water and replace as recommended. 🤞🤞 Thanks again for the helpful info. 👍👍
@oraclescaveАй бұрын
@JohnDoe-md2sb no worries, let me know how you get on if you do. 👍👍👍
@JohnDoe-md2sbАй бұрын
@oraclescave Finaly completed the steps. Drained out old acid and filled with distilled water, reverse the polarity to remove deposits from plates, rinced out and added hydrochloric acid 20%, topped off with more distilled water till about 1/8 from bottom of vent holes and let charge all night with the caps off. Was still bubbling gently this morning and took it off the Noco charger. Didn't seem to complet the charging cycle though...might reconnect it later. 🤔 Approximately 12.5V this morning. Left it disconnected to see if it keeps the charge. If it doesn't keep the charge I'm assuming battery's toast. Should I maybe repeat the steps of inverting the polarity to clean plates more if it doesn't stay stable? Or maybe add more distilled water? 🤔
@oraclescaveАй бұрын
@JohnDoe-md2sb yes, you might need to discharge the battery, either with a discharge function on your charger or connecting it to something to run the power down again, and recharge. It often takes a few cycles to get a battery fully running again
@JohnDoe-md2sbАй бұрын
Would you recommend Epson salt to add electrolytes?
@oraclescaveАй бұрын
@JohnDoe-md2sb I have heard of it but wouldn't suggest it, you can by hydrochloric acid 20% cheap, that's the only thing I would use to put a battery back to brand new, must use eyewear and gloves handling it incase of splashes. But it's what is needed.

@SamuelHale-fk9ij yes, mine started doing that lastweek rebuilding my dirt bike, it just won't stay on anymore, and the size of the grinder makes it hard to wrap your hand around it and hold the button and use it safely. I used this along with another tutorial about how to accessing the battery. On adding distilled water in the cells (didn't really need it - caps were vacuum sucked downward, though I add a few drops) and jump start a battery (wound up not needing it) that wouldn't charge / play. I was surprised when I took a voltage reading and it was at 11.8 (12 V is the rating). So I reconnected everything without charging it. Come to find out, it played on battery mode (had been cutting off after about 5-10 seconds. Did disconnecting it reset something? Perhaps that was all it needed! Thanks everyone!

I’m having a similar issue with my old 2004 dell latitude. With my issue I plug mine in and it won’t turn on at all now. Just the battery light flashes in red. I keep pressing and pressing the power but as it used to eventually power on but now it just stays dead. 🤦🏻♂️

@Our.Childhood.Commercials yes that happened to mine, it just refused to turn on and the battery was also red. The battery will be your new issue, so even if you got a new battery you might still find it hard to get going again. Unless you can find someone else with the same laptop to try and charge your battery, or borrow the battery to get your laptop going so you can save or transfer all your information out of the laptop.

@kheangnoeum6006 you pop the lever between the steering bar where it connects to the scooter board. Then you lift the latch on the side of the steering bar, you might want to push the handle bars forward at the same time to make it easier to lift the latch.

@oraclescave4 ай бұрын
@MarijkeKamsma-ui6qp the handle was a bit loose, I ended up putting an insert into the end of it to take out the slop. But works OK on its own, just a pain in the butt, not too hard to sort out though.

Ty! So still good working since 2017? The end of the handle was sloppy and i meant also the hing on the beginning of the handle. I put some rings extra. The press works and makes holes in coins :-) Maybe to heavy for folding? Or i use the 2t for that. Greetings Marijke

Thanks for the video , my laptop is the same as that one but have tried it and it has failed, please help me does it need a new battery
@oraclescave4 ай бұрын
@SeanChrist-i5e not sure if you need a new battery, my computer had a blown capacitor on the motherboard that caused the problem. Charge your battery then check power level on battery pack by pressing the button on the battery. If your charger is not working try changing the fuse on your charger. But if you have the same problem as me, you might have a damaged capacitor on your motherboard. The only way to fix is computer repair shop, my one was going to be too expensive to repair so I just bought a new laptop. Possibly keep trying the method in the video, it took me about 2 hours to make it work, I just repeat repeat.

@oraclescave6 ай бұрын
@fayetowlson-mann2615 perfectly normal fear to have when it's a leaking flammable container, but yeah make sure its lit and firing flame before you hold it on, if too much gas escapes in a small place then you ignite it, it could flash you. I just light it up and if it starts to get awkward holding it, I clip the switch to hold it on by itself so I can manhandle the tool how I need it holding it in weird ways to reach where I need to get to. I found the button by accident, started freaking out why it wouldn't switch off when I let go of the trigger lol, panic mode for a few seconds.
