Why is phonetic not spelled with an 'f'. (Joke: I know the Greek root from which the word is derived). Also - 'monosyllable' - oh, the irony.

A normal person would not say antisemite; they would say anti-jew. By normal, I mean someone who wants to make a clear point.

'Semitic' is a linguistic term. So it's not like calling an American a "North American", it's more like calling someone from Belgium an "Indo-European".

Semi-semite sounds like a semi-precious stone. I call myself by my nationality because that is my identity.

So why do jews love to draw the anti semite card at every opportunity, say a bad word about jews and they draw it like a gun.....even though very very few jews are in fact middle eastern!!

The same thing happened to the pronunciation of c before e or i in Italian. (Now like ch, but like k in Latin and still in Sardinian.)

Interesting subject COMPLETELY spoiled by AI narration. I gave up at 1m27s and gave a thumbs down. Seems the poster himself doesn't understand the subject otherwise he wouldn't perpetrate this atrocity.

Please let the text be read by a person who can pronounce abbreviations as words, not as a "row of letters" like this A.I. (?) did!

Interesting content, but attrocious AI reading. Seriously, a linguistics channel needs to be narrated by an intelligent human.

All German words are pronounced wrongly (e.g. "Kind" ist not pronounced like English "kind" but like "wind"; "Kirche" is more like "Keer -xe" where x is pronounced similar to "ch" in Michigan but without the sh-sound)

Church was spelt cirice in old English, (generally) southern pronunciation of the letter c would be chiriche but northern would be kirike

Not the best subject to use an AI voice on. A real human would have been much easier to understand. Interesting subject though.

Yeah, it's frustrating when he is pronouncing it as "sir-us" because that is almost certainly not the OE way to say it. When you are talking about the history of pronunciation you have to you know, actually pronounce the words

In such a story, go with synonyms for HOST: one who knows & helps willingly, "sponsor" & "patron"; also "benefactor", tho this might also be one who doesn't know or much mind that they help. Those more victims than willing helpers -- someone you simply leech off of -- "donor", "contributor" or "subsidizer".

M ps should be free to Vote or agree on what they believe in or on , this is not a true democracy, as has been proven in our General election results , When Reform should have won on the amount of votes they got , we now need change in our political system.

the act of coining a term arrives from the source of human spontaneity and creativity within the context of their life's both making the term novel but also reverently contested. your AI is but an abomination that does not include such contexts

I have played cribbage for over 60 years, having been taught by my parents. We are all from Birmingham (UK) by the way. I dare say that nomenclature varies by region. To me that matching Jack is 'one for his nob' and the turned up Jack score two for his heels for the one who holds the box. Yes, 'box' not 'crib' was how I was taught. It is amusing - one for his nob (head) - but the Jack has two heads - and two for his heels - but the Jack has no heels!
