Brian Setzer has a kind of rack on top of the amplifier, does anyone know what Rack it is? At minute 8:41 you can see how he manipulates it.

Two of my favorite Buddy Holly songs. It’s a revelation that Holly wrote such incredible music at his young age! He became a legendary star not because he died so young but because his songs were so good. The loss was immense! The same can be said for Ritchie Valens who was a Latino rocker and pioneer! Joe Ely does Holly proud! 😊

Read something recently about the tour Buddy and the Rest of the acts were on.Later to be named the tour from Hell, had them traveling in Wisconsin Michiigan Iowa,in dead of Winter. Was noted that their bus drove past the venue they played more than once, forcing them to travel 100's of miles out of their way.
HOLY CRAP - I can't believe I found this! I was one of the WKTC DJs in your list - Bob Bour (not Bauer as you spelled it). I was at WKTC from June of 1975 until almost the bitter end a few months later working the 3-8 PM shift. I got involved with John Kiernan and Ken Meinhart through Alan Furst, who was my college roommate at Bethany College. Alan knew and worked for John at KAA Productions (Kiernan Audio Associates) - I still have his KAA business card. Anyway, John and Ken came to Bethany to visit Alan, heard me on WVBC, the college station, we had some discussions, and shortly after I left school and started at WKTC. I was good friends with Joe McLain, Kelly Reid and Ron Kaplan (real name Miniatis now living in Atlanta GA). In fact, I was Ron's Best Man in his wedding. After the end at WKTC I ended up working for the Holt's at WGPA/WEZV in Bethlehem when they were both automated. I ran the automation and did news on the weekends. I stayed as WEZV transitioned to Z-95 and worked weekends there with Joe, Kevin Sanford and some others. I later moved with Ron Kaplan to WFMV-FM in Blairstown, NJ working weekends. Another fun fact - Sammy Anderson from WEZV was at one time my father-in-law. I ended up leaving FMV in early 1979 and several years later left the Allentown area and moved to upstate NY. I know I still have a few WKTC airchecks down in the basement somewhere - I'll take a look and let you know what I find. It was a blast hearing those old jingles and station IDs with John, Ken and Joe. "89 At Your Service"

Hi Bob, great to hear from you! I corrected the spelling of your name in the details of the video. Hope you also found my WGPA air check on KZbin. That one was also my last show at WGPA when I was programming the "Oldies 1100" format. Watch for the pictures of our automation system, but be aware that just seeing it again might give you a few nightmares! Sounds like we worked at some of the same stations like WFMV-FM, Blairstown. Along with Chucky "B" and engineer Steve Boyer, I helped create and get that station finally on the air. When we launched it, I programmed it as "New Jersey Solid Gold". Few people realize that I had Jim Nettleton at WCAU-FM 98 oldies in Philadelphia providing alot of the inside help and guidance on how to create the live drive time then automated sound we had in little 'ol Blairstown! Of course we were much more interested in attracting our audience from Stroudsburg and the Pocono mountains area. At that time we were the only 24 hour a day oldies station in New Jersey. Unfortunately the 80 hour work weeks being Program/Music Director at both WCRV-AM in Washington NJ and WFMV-FM in Blairstown finally caught up and I left both stations. Those were the days my friend!

Oh yes - the much-feared BPI2000 automation system - had a few nightmares with that one. It was really fun running two of them at the same time. I did find some old KTC and FMV airchecks that help clarify the dates I was around. I definitely started at KTC in June of 1975 and all of the airchecks I have are from July so I'm thinking that KTC was gone by the end of July or beginning of August. I know I started a job at K-Photo Service on Hanover Avenue in late August. I'm not sure how I got the job at GPA/EZV but I started there in January of 1976 - I remember meeting with Gordon Holt who was Art's son. The FMV airchecks I have are from February of 1977 on so I was there until I went back to Bethlehem to ZZO. I did stay friends with Joe McLain and Joe Swanson so when EZV became ZZO in 1978 I left FMV and started there - was tired of the drive from Allentown to Blairstown every weekend. I stayed at ZZO until the format change - sometime in 1979? - when they hired the consultants, and we were no longer allowed to play what we wanted. Unfortunately, I don't have any airchecks from my time at ZZO. I found some pictures from Ron Kaplan's wedding - I was best man, and I believe the ushers were Kelly Reid and Mark Austin who was also at FMV at that time along with TJ and Bill Chamberlin. Indeed, those were the days - hard to believe how long ago it was. Thanks for providing some great memories and the impetus to drag out the old reel-to-reel and play some of those old tapes. Glad I kept them!
