Sure, looks really good in a SIMULATION. But what warehouse only has small items like this? Nuts & bolts factory maybe? This system is at best a niche market. Many warehouses have to handle noncom products that are so big, so unwieldy they cannot fit on conveyance equipment. Then what happens if the digger gets jammed? Or a pocket deep within the bowels of this abomination becomes unstable or causes jams? How the heck could you fix that? Lastly, this system mind be super efficient when completed. But damn - this has got to be super expensive to be construct. Likely, making it prohibitively expensive for some companies to invest into.

Automotive parts retailers for one. I should know, as I work for one that is on the Fortune 500. The plan isn't to put every single item you sell into this system. Non-con items will still be palletized and moved via fork trucks, or hand carts. But over 70% of the roughly 400,000 SKUs we stock in a typical ware house are the size of a 12x12 inch cube or smaller. Wipe blades, floor mats, steering wheel covers, air-fresheners, coolant, hand held tools, etc. And yes, we do sell a lot of nuts and bolts. . I'm in the IT for the warehouse segment of our Supply Chain division. The possibilities for this are amazing, and labor efficiency and cost savings are tremendous. . How do you fix a jam? I have no idea, which is probably why I haven't built this system myself. My guess is they have a plan for that, or they wouldn't be selling $100 million systems all over the world.

We are working with this system, it actually work pretty good. The bins are larger than they appear, so anywhere from cosmetica, phones and accesoires, laptops, baby clothing, games, basically 70-80% of what people order in general. In case of jammings or the system not working properly, someone can reach the robots manually and easily remove it out of the system. This takes approx 10 mins and the sytem will work afterwards again.
