This popped up in my feed today and I'm so.glad it did. Singing live with Quakers was always inspiring. The power and passion was evident as it and the sheer power and volume of the music filled every space.

Was so moved at Friends University when the Singing Quakers alumni sang this together with Dr. Riney on site for the 90th celebration.

Touches my heart. When I sang at Luther under Weston Noble (grad. 1992)-- this arrangement was was our (second) traditional encore (The first being Tchesnokov's "O Lord God"). My paths crossed with several Friends Alumni while I did graduate work at Florida State-- most notably the wonderful Andre Thomas. I have since felt a strong kinship with the Singing Quakers as "cousins" in the world of families bound by a choral tradition. Several years back I discovered prior to 1820 my family name was indeed spelled "R-I-N-E-Y"-- and I may share another kind of familial bond with the wonderful man at the heart of your tradition. As we say at Luther-- "Soli Deo Gloria." Blessings to cousin Cecil-- and all my musical kin in whom his spirit sings.

Beautiful rendition of a classic favorite. Do you mind if I use it for our upcoming Communion Service, even if it is just the audio?

When I was in Quakers we would surround the audience and hold hands and perform this song. I guess the girl next to me had a nice hand because I ended up marrying her. We now consider this "our song".
