Thanks for the review. Like you I’ve been waiting for Silo to come back. I also believe they’ve already started filming Season 3-so there’s a lot more story we will see. As for this episode, I see it as laying the groundwork for the season ahead. We now have Juliette in a different Silo, and episode 2 (from the published summary) will have a lot of scenes in Juliette’s original Silo-so we’re going to have two storylines unfolding at the same time. Juliette exploring the new Silo-connecting with whomever is behind the door (is he that Silo’s “Bernard”?), as well as (I predict) Juliette finding a way BACK to her original Silo. Most likely through a door/corridor that’s now under water. The second storyline is probably what you suggested: what happens in Juliette’s original Silo. Is a rebellion brewing? How is Bernard “spinning” what happened to Juliette after she went outside? Is he trying to fabricate her death? Like most folks, I have NOT read any of the books-I believe there are three. But, I’ve read interviews with the tv series creator, Graham Yost, saying that he’s NOT obligated to tell the exact same story that’s in the books. So knowing the book wouldn’t help. Narrative-wise, I have to believe that somehow Juliette will get back to her original Silo-and maybe unite with Bernard to prevent the people from Rebelling and going outside; since she now knows what happened in her new silo when the people went outside. The thought of Bernard & Juliette working together is mind-blowing. And, just the thing for good storytelling! But, again, I’ve not read the books and have no idea what will happen. I can’t wait for more episodes !!!!

Thanks for another great re-cap; you're commentaries are always excellent and thought-provoking. First off, to your question about a possible second season: there's a lot of mixed feelings about that from other fans of "Dark Matter." Some folks think this season was flawless, and the odds of being able to repeat the quality and excitement and great storylines is very unlikely--so end it on the high note. I'm kinda in that camp. That said, I like where you were going: if there is a second season, it should be about Amanda and Ryan1. Do they want to return to Ryan's previous world (which, unbeknownst to them, is infested with Jasons), or stay in Empathy World? Do they decide to be "Travelers' Aid"--and use their skills & knowledges to assist "universe travelers" to find THEIR way, either back home or to a new life like Jason1/Daniela/Charlie? That could be interesting. Now, to some of the problems I had with the finale. To me, they should have combined the last two episodes into a two-hour finale. That would have been a more satisfying wrap-up, because it wouldn't have forced the viewer to "make jumps of imagination" on HOW certain details came about. Specifically... Resolving the scene with Blair, Evil Jason, and Bar/Scar Jason1--who had beat the hell out of Evil Jason. It seems to me that the show edited the ending of the scene, after Blair maced Bar/Scar Jason1, got the gun, and asked "what the hell is going on." This is a critical scene because SOMEHOW Evil Jason was let loose, and given the tracking code to Blair's car. But the viewer can only imagine that Evil Jason was able to convince Blair to help him. Again, How? IMO, this is just sloppy. You've already mentioned that Evil Jason's conversion to Not-So-Evil-Jason was unconvincing, so I won't say any more than I agree. And, again, this is sloppy storytelling. The final, and most important, plot-weakness in the finale IMO, is the Jason Clones allowing Jason1 Prime to leave with Daniela & Charlie. I believe a scene of ALL the Jason Clones--having figured out that Daniela & Charlie would be coming to the Box--together, waiting and discussing/fighting among themselves over WHAT to do, would have been exciting to watch. A variation on this Jason1 Clone scene could have been the clones NOT accepting Daniela's decision--and when Jason1 Prime/Daniela/Charlie arrive, all the clones rush them, and try to physically grab Daniela & Charlie, to be with them. It would be a chaotic & violent scene--with Jasons everywhere; and Daniela & Charlie & Jason1 Prime all being bruised & battered before calm is restored...and the group, not wanting Daniela & Charlie to be harmed more/killed, agree to let them go with Jason1 Prime into the Box. That would have been an emotional roller-coaster for the viewers to end this season. Those are my thoughts. Thanks, again, for your recap/reviews.
@HollywoodAlreadyDidIt4 ай бұрын
It means a lot, man. THANK YOU! It has been a blast talking about this show. It's funny, I didn't even think about the Blair not having a resolution until I turned the camera on and was about to discuss that part. In real time I also thought that was very messy. I've said my piece on the quick about face of Jason 2. Just needed to start that transition a bit ealier. The Jason's letting them pass...yeah, I'm torn. I get it from the point that Daniella's happiness and Charlie's safety trumps theirs...but then why did the car accident occur in the last episode if that was their thought. I can buy that all these Jason's have empathy, but something has to get them to that point. I'm 50/50 on a second season. The only reason I'm okay is because the original author is a writer. Were he not involved, I would say, let's end here on the upswing.

I was confused by the ending; is the Jason at the end hugging Charlie Jason prime? I was looking for the rubber band on his ring finger but I did not see one so I thought he was another divergent Jason prime. Also at this point, how are we even sure that the Jason prime we were following all season is truly Daniella’s Jason? 🤨
@HollywoodAlreadyDidIt5 ай бұрын
Fair question. I don't think we can be 100% sure that that is the prime Jason, but as the viewer, we've only followed one Jason from start to now. We have only followed one, and any other Jason was seen through our Jason's lens. I don't see that changing at the last 2 episodes, but I could be wrong. That said, whomever we are following. The Jason that spoke to Daniella at the precinct is the same that met at the Chicago Bean. There was no splitting of Jason's from that moment.

@@HollywoodAlreadyDidIt I want to weigh-in on this. Remember, the JasonPrime that smoked the cigar, got arrested, talked to Daniela, and met Daniela & Charlie at the Chicago Bean--is the JasonPrime that awoke at the park bench. The JasonPrimeOG that we've been following all season had a hotel room, that he left and went to the bar where he ran into one of the JasonPrime clones. What if JasonPrimeOG went back to his hotel room after he left the bar? Why would he go to sleep on a park bench? That's a mind-twister--but definitely a possibility, that is revealed in the finale next week. This "mistaken identity" would be similar to what happen at the gun shop: many viewers thought the second Jason to come in was Jason2. Next week we'll see if I'm right.

Jason 3 is the Jason from the reality where Amanda got shot.. think about it.. that Jason also was trying to go home, and that Jason is also Jason 1 that got kidnapped by Jason 2. So like… now we have 3 Jasons… Jason 1 (the Jason that was with Amanda the whole time), Jason 2 (Evil Jason) and now Jason 3 (Jason 1 from the world where Amanda got killed). What’s gonna happen now?? Jason 1 and 3 will fight for that world? How many other possible worlds could have been created while Jason 1 was trying to go back to his? Meaning.. we could have many points where a new reality was created during Jason’s journey to go home.. meaning, we could have an infinite number of Jasons trying to go back to the same world.. causing and infinite paradox that will destroy all realities or something catastrophic like that 🤷🏻♂️. Just theories and more theories!
@HollywoodAlreadyDidIt5 ай бұрын
I also have a feeling that is where this new Jason Prime is split from. Without Amanda being in the Corridor with that version, it probably took him less attempts to return home.
@kingdomcitizenship56135 ай бұрын
I just can't understand why other Jason's would try to come into Jason 1's world. It isn't there world or their Daniella. Also, they aren't unique Jason's from their own unique worlds, they are almost like copies of Jason 1... How does that happen?!?! Amanda did say that the box was never tested for this extensive usage. So perhaps, new time branches have come into existence based on Jason 1's time in the box, creating other versions of himself. It's just a theory, but I'm not sure. Can't wait until next week to find out
@ProjectGrandMarauder4 ай бұрын
All the Jason copies ARE Jason 1 (our Jason) They ALL equally love Daniela and fought to get home, they just made different decisions along the way and all the variants are pouring into this reality. Jason will either take his family and leave this reality OR Jason will have to use the box to combine himself with all these variants - the title of episode 9 is “entanglement” Or And I think this last one is the most interesting: Jason 1 and 2 will team up to fix things… because it’s their only way out of this.

Thank you AND Congratulations! I'm addicted to "Dark Matter" so I watch many reviews of the show on KZbin and elsewhere--and you are the ONLY Reviewer who grasped what really happened in the gun shop scene. The other reviewers thought the second Jason to come in and try to buy a gun was Evil Jason, aka Jason2. Fans (including me) have then had to point out exactly what you said--there are now (somehow) multiple Jason1, aka Jason Prime. In fact, if you rewatch the gun shop scene with "audio assist" turned on, the narration refers to "Jason6." Wow! So we now have a indication of how many Jasons may be converging in Jason1's world. And, my guess is they are ALL coming to get revenge on Evil Jason/Jason2. BTW, I see the other Jason who came into the gun shop as an "echo" Jason. He's not only dressed exactly like Jason1...but, he says EXACTLY the same words to the gun shop clerk. It's as if he's on a "time delay"--so that could be an element that we see play out in the last two episodes. Which WILL be mind-benders! Again: Congratulations, on being the Reviewer who understood their were multiple Jason1's in the gun shop scene. Gold Star!

@HollywoodAlreadyDidIt5 ай бұрын
I really believe when Jason Prime and Amanda went to the reality where they failed in escaping into the box is where the splintered Jason Prime comes from (where an Amanda was shot). That Jason somehow made it into the box, and perhaps had a shorter trial and error of getting back to the Prime reality without Amanda being inovled.
@phillylady5 ай бұрын
@@HollywoodAlreadyDidIt 🤔 that makes sense. I have to go back now, and see if he also injured his finger during that encounter. It also makes sense that he’d have an easier time getting back since there was no Amanda to affect the “box”… If both these Jasons are married to the same Daniella, then who is really her Jason? This is why I was of the belief that the “finger brace” Jason was a Jason that diverge when one of his sons died (in this case Charlie). Thanks for the response. 😊
@117Derek5 ай бұрын
@@phillylady My best guess is AFTER Jason1 and Amanda split up; and she was no longer in the Box--adding her thoughts/emotions to Jason1's. "Why" he cloned or "echo'd" is the science part that I cannot explain. But, since we only see a Jason1 clone/echo after he's traveling alone, it's the logic that works for me.

Good recap of this episode--which I liked a lot. Though many people didn't like it, because they didn't see the storyline advancing in episode 6. For me, that's OK--because this episode was a mental & emotional examination of the characters. Jason1 & Amanda dealing with the frustration of not finding Jason1's world--while at the same time (foolishly in my view) resisting their physical/emotional attraction. Which, I believe is a major reason they haven't found Jason1's world: Amanda subconsciously does NOT want to lose Jason1 to Daniela. BTW, it's ironic that while Jason1 is "saving himself" for Daniela and denying his physical (emotional?) desire for Amanda, in Jason1's world Jason2 is (according to Daniela) having sex with Daniela like they're rabbits. We also really got a look at the EVIL in Jason2. Stranding Ryan & sealing-up the box. Controlling Daniela. Playing mind games with psychiatrist Amanda in Jason1's world [note: WHO is her "partner" that's in the photo on her desk?]; knowing that in Jason2's world they were lovers. It's another example of Jason2 desire to exert "control" and "superiority" over others--he's "mind-gaming" a woman who's profession is "mind-games." This episode--three away from the finale--is all about emotions & mentality. I haven't read the book, but I wonder if the final resolution of the story narrative will be driven by the resolution of the emotional conflicts of the characters? That would be a classic "science vs. emotion" theme. Remember, from the beginning the choice that Jason had to make was to take the "road" of his science life--which led to his professional recognition, and creation of the box. Or, to take the "road" with Daniela/Charley (Max)...his emotional life. Finding balance between these two, competing choices may be the overall theme of the book/series. We'll see.
@HollywoodAlreadyDidIt5 ай бұрын
I also loved this episode because of the emotional aspects! Jason 2 really showed his need for control in both subtle and overt ways. Him choosing Amanda as his therapist is 100% him having an upper hand on her as he knows most of her entire backstop. I also haven't read the book, but I do look forward to reading it once the season is over.

The craziest thing is the show really failed to show how the Bloody 100th became the best bomber group, in between Rosie choosing to stay and him leading the largest raid on Berlin. As they were historically (and shown in the first half) the worst bomber group originally, due to poor leadership and lack of discipline. Like you said, the series asks a bit too much of the audience to do homework. It also, wasted way too much time on the POWs. Since, the only interesting part of that storyline was the evacuation march. However, the strongest arc throughout the series was Rosie’s. It was heartbreaking seeing him process that 6mil of his people were murdered, and hopelessness of the handful of Jews left in Poland. All while, he himself is alone and cannot ever share what he experienced, because no one would fully understand just how personal it truly is. History remembers Robert Rosenthal as a war hero and the great B-17 pilot, yet the series remained the world of the emotional toll WWII took on Jewish-American servicemen. They did not feel like heroes, because their world had been shattered.

As upset as I was at Rosie being benched, in this episode, perhaps it was for the best. Since he is the only lead character who is still sympathetic, interesting, and likable. Which will be important if the series does choose to show his final combat mission, and the ramifications of it, in the finale. Crosby has spiraled completely out of control, and it looks like he might only get worse. Cleven is still bland and forgettable. While, Egan has somehow become more obnoxious than ever before. My grandmother survived the Siege of Leningrad, and this spoiled pilot has the audacity to complain about living off potatoes? Honestly, it is a shame the series did not find a better way to utilize the Tuskegee Airmen. They could have easily been used to show the audience the passage of time, after the Invasion of Normandy, through some of their missions. Since they were stationed in Italy and not England, which caused their mission routes to be different. Especially, if the series was going to bench Rosie for an episode. Instead the Tuskegee are used as an attempt to give Austin Butler some late-stage character development. Which really rubbed me the wrong way.
@HollywoodAlreadyDidIt8 ай бұрын
I liked the scene, but yes...it was a very 4th quarter way of attaching humanity onto a character that has been pretty one note.
@lynnogard54208 ай бұрын
Well said. Agree 100%.
@ChienaAvtzon8 ай бұрын
I personally feel the Cleven and Egan storyline should have been temporarily shelved, after they ended up in the Stalag. Apart from the first and last scene, in the Stalag, that storyline added nothing. It just felt like padding to fulfill a contractual obligation, when Austin Butler and Callum Turner were cast. The only reason the first and last scene worked, (apart from Egan starting to mature) is to show the audience what Rosenthal is risking by re-upping his tour. Since, the Germans do not care about the Geneva Conventions when it comes to Jewish soldiers and POWs. Honestly, as much as I have enjoyed seeing Crosby’s journey, it is Rosenthal’s storyline that is the most gripping. He is the series’ MVP and basically saved the show for me. I appreciate that virtually every one of Rosie’s lines has a double meaning, as it provides so much depth to his character. He is Jewish and feels drawn to what is happening in Europe, but also feels a need to mentor these young boys who can die at any moment. It is obvious, that besides his historical significance to the 100th, Rosie is the character Steven Spielberg felt the most personal connection with. Which is probably why his storyline has been the strongest. Despite the fact the producers and Apple attempted to hide that he was actually the lead character.
@HollywoodAlreadyDidIt8 ай бұрын
YES, that's it. We spend an insane amount of time on Bucky and Buck, and now it makes sense as they are the two most recognized actors. Their is no progression for them at all. Rosie is the storyline that is keeping me most engaged as well. Well, Quinn and Bailey for an episode as well. I feel that Crosby, Buck, and Bucky being grounded from the air, also grounded their stories.
@ChienaAvtzon8 ай бұрын
@@HollywoodAlreadyDidIt - Even though, Crosby’s affair was infuriating to watch. I understand that many married airmen did that overseas, since they were lonely. However, if played correctly in the final two episodes, clipping Crosby’s wings could potentially be an interesting counterpoint to Rosie’s experience.
