When I saw you put the front button up as the other side I laughed because I have made pillow covers like this! I found a gorgeous shirt at the thrift store & made one for a friend. The colors were so unique & they matched my friend’s decor! I was thrilled with your contrasting backs!

I do not enjoy finding, reclaiming or using recycled fabrics, but I do love this assembly technique Chris! I have a box of my Dad's wool shirts which I put aside to make a memory item out of when he passed, but nothing felt quite right: your cushion process is just the process I was looking for, thankyou!

Thank s for this video. It is so encouraging, as a self-taught quilter, to see quilts that I would feel confident in making. The one with the bicycle would be perfect for me as I cycle everywhere. The selvedge quilt made me laugh. This is a video I will definitely view again 😍

It was hard to read what you need as it was on a yellow background. Could you repost in plain black text? It's going to be a great project. Thanks

Hi Anne, apologies for that, my years in teaching tries to steer me away from black on white for those who are dyslexic. But here is what is needed to join in: A total of 374 4 ½ " background fabric squares (approximately 5 ¼ metres in total) Fabric scraps or pieces in 5 different colours (each scrap 4" square or larger). You need around 5 metres in total, but as you don't know how your mood will be through the year, you may need to go shopping for extras (or raid the scraps of friends). 3" circle template (made from a glass dessert pot and some thin cardboard) Tin foil A notebook/calendar or diary to record your mood each day"

I like how he uses fabric that would otherwise get thrown into landfill. However, how disappointing and boring that he has to bring politics into quilting. It's divisive and unnecessary. Leave the politics to the politicians, and protect our "politics free" spaces in which we can all coexist in harmony while keeping our opinions to ourselves.

I live in Northern Ireland but one day abut 20 years ago on a trip to England I saw an old quilt being used to cover furniturein the back of a removal van. I asked the man to let me see if and he tossed out to me he said i could have it he just used it as a rag, it was a bit torn but I took it home and repaired it. I would so love to age it and have some input from experts, it's a grandmother's garden quilt very faded and clearly very well worn, can I contact BOSG with photos?

Great story! It would be lovely to find out more about that quilt wouldn't it! Information on the British Quilt Study Group and contact details can be found here: www.quiltersguild.org.uk/special-interest/bqsg It's such a fascinating group to be part of. I hope we can help you learn more about your quilt.

What needles are recommended?
@CarolynGibbsQuilts8 ай бұрын
The type of needle you use for quilting depends on which stitching technique you use. For the rocking stitch, as you don't actually hold the needle (just rock it up and down), a really short, stiff needle called a "between" (or simply a "quilting" needle) is used. My favorite brand is Piecemakers which are unfortunately not that easy to find in the UK. I use size 8, which many would consider a relatively large size for between needles. I have tried the smaller ones, but do find them more difficult to thread now that my eyes are not as young and sharp as they used to be - and as I am more interested in quality than speed, I don't find any particular advantage in the tiny ones.

I like the way you think, Russell....the idea of not spoiling yourself and your ideas with too much 'knowing all the things' that are considered proper and de regueur. Loved your talk and your quilt!
