I'm unable to make a swap instance from my component icon, there's no function icon where you are pointing to at 4:50. I see a different set of icons there. First is Multi edit variants, next is Select matching layers and then theres the icon for opening the More actions menu. Inside that there's no option to create instance swap. I'm using an icon from the central DS. The icon has a boolean prop in the component that I made. This was easy before but with UI3 it seems impossible. I'm following the demo to a tee.

Hey @Underhills. Yes, with the new UI3 I also think its harder to do some actions. Let's try here: 1 - You create a frame with text and copy an icon inside 2 - Make it a component 3 - Add a instance swap property (top right corner) 4 - Appears a modal and set the name and value (if it's not recognizing the property, you may find in the dropdown the component and link it) 5 - Select the icon, and go again to top right and click the icon (arrow pointing right) that says Apply Instance Swap Property 6 - Select the property you created before That should work. Tell me if it helped

Hi Ricardo I have a excel sheet with 3 columns with different number values. I have checked the variables but if I should go through all that i would really have problems. I have 9 small boxes and textboes inside every one of the 9 boxes that need to change value if 1 or 2 of the boxes changes values. I find no calculation inside Figma. I have now made Excel sheet with 3 columns and a fixed value instead on each of the lines in Ecel so each line that covers 3 columns has to be updated IF I change only 1 box of the 9 boxes wth textvalue. But I feel this is to hard to fix. As I also see that that values is not even realtime changed from Excel after synched with OpenDoc. Can you somehow help me?

Figma has paywalled all of the features that streamline this process. I'm just wondering if anyone is still using this for design or if there are better alternatives that nobody is talking about.

Everyone is still using figma for design, and if you work at a company, they better be paying for it, and you should be able to afford a personal pro subscription as well. If you’re a freelancer, you pass it on to your clients. If you don’t have a company or clients, but you want to do professional-level design and deliver professional-level design deliverables, you have to eat it-it’s the cost of being a professional. I have spent nearly $3k just on adobe creative cloud since July 2020, and I was mostly working freelance during this time. That doesn’t even take into account the several years of CC and CS before 2020, and the years of shelling out hundreds of $$ for individual adobe app upgrade CDs (and when I started it was actually on floppy disks) for years as well. There are a lot more options now than there were all these years ago, but it remains the case that if you want the best tools for the job you have to pay for them.

It's the resolution as well. The qv is 2.5k and the cv is 4k. Just google the two and you will find a side by side comparison.

Pretty cool use of variables! Using this method though, when opening the select menu in a layout, it will push down everything below it, yes? Might be better too design as a "open overlay" instead of as a variant. More troublesome is how do I unselect anything? I do not want to be locked in to a selection. But there is no way to remove my selection or "reset" the field.

Thank you Ricardo. I have a question about multiple dropdown menus: I used your approach to make multiple dropdown menus but quickly found out I can pull down every single menu items. Is there any way to limit the number of dropped-down menu to just one? Tried boolean variables but still couldn't solve this issue.

Is there a way of making one component for the dropdown that will work in any scenario? In our app we have loads of dropdown lists, I don't want to have to create a component for every single one. This is nice for a one off dropdown but doesn't work as a reusable component.
