Can you use the Suhr just as an attenuator? Can you get a good comfortable volume that still sounds good? (without any IR)
@regayers2 ай бұрын
@@SeemoreDunkan unfortunately the Suhr is just a load box, no attenuator. I ended up keeping the THD because of this, even though the Suhr sounded better practically I needed an attenuator as well.

What a great video ! 800 is a tad more compressed than plexi which sounds more organic and bit more forward. DR is really really not bad all, just more bit more modern and lean. 900 DR’s go for extremely cheap compared to the other 2, great deal due to bad reputation since people are comparing them to 800’s. Totally different voicing.

800, 87 needs a treble boost, 900 was far away sounding compared to either.
@regayers2 ай бұрын
@@chadherring2790 a pretty good summary, the 87 is a little looser feeling, the 900 more modern with less solid feeling bass. Still trying to find my own 2203/4 but I currently have a JCM800 1959 Plexi which is also great!

Yep definitely a difference in gain and how “loose” they feel. OC81 is kinda tighter and more together ave the 2SA52 feels looser with more gain. Germanium all have a bit of different tone, even with a very similar gain range. Not building much lately, just the odd build mostly to order.
