Hey Maxime, may I ask if you upgraded anything about the oil system or the engine itself for track abuse? I'm preparing the 2zz engine to do the swap soon, but I'm not sure if I really need to upgrade the oil pump gears for example. I'll also use it as track/ringtoy :) Thanks in advance!
@MaximePain3 ай бұрын
@@benniekerkhof Hi ! I only added a Moroso oil pan and a 13 row oil cooler with 2 Spal fans in the right fender, and it’s still getting pretty hot after 10 minutes of hard driving on track, water temp is ok but oil is going up to 120ºC. I bought the car with the engine already swapped but without all this, and if I had to swap it myself I would change the oil pump gears for sure, for peace of mind. Upgrading or at least replacing the oil pump gears with new ones is something recommanded for this engine, especially while it’s out it’s way easier. 🙂

@@MaximePain Thanks a lot! I've already a baffled sump and an oil cooler was also on the list. I'll order the Toda oil pump gear, because indeed it's much much easier while the engine is out of the car haha! Maybe I see you next year on the ring with both MR2 2ZZ :)

Hi, I ve got some other questions. What tyre sizes do you drive ? Front I could see 225/45R15 on my pictures, and in the rear ? You need any works to fit the wheels under the fender ? What offset does the wheels have, and do you use spacers ? What suspension do you drive? Thanks in advance. Best regards 👍
@MaximePain10 ай бұрын
Hi, tires are 225/45R15 on front and rear too, I love how it handles with a square setup, front goes where I want it to go and rear is still very planted, also thanks to Nankang Ar-1. I will soon try the Yoko A052 in 225/50R15, still square setup, will see if it’s as good. The 4 Rims are 15x8 et28, if fits perfectly with stock fenders, and without spacers. It doesn’t touch anything even on bumpy roads or aggressive driving, but I think it’s almost the largest we can go with stock fenders, and more is not really necessary. Coilovers are Blitz ZZR with 4/6kg springs. Cheap but good on the track and the road :)

@MaximePain2 жыл бұрын
You will love it, the biggest issue with the 2zz is the oil system, the first thing you need is a baffled oil pan to avoid oil starvation in the corner, some kit exists, like weld plates on the stock pan, the better option is an oil pan like the Moroso, expensive but necessary. If you don’t have an oil temp and pressure gauge, it’s good to have, with that you can know if your engine is running at the good temperature and if the oil pump is doing its job. I don’t know if an oil cooler is necessary on the corolla, it was on the mr2 spyder, but with the gauge you should know. Otherwise nothing much to do, a good service before going on track, oil change, and check the oil level often between some laps on track, driving hard can burn more oil than just driving casually on the road, that’s it, you will love it :)
