This really brings back memories. I was a music major class of ‘88 but I so badly wanted to get in as a dance major. Unfortunately I was in an accelerated program for smart students in junior high which allowed me to skip 7th grade but in order to do that I had to take 9th grade in junior high and apply for entry ti hs as a sophomore; which ruined my chances for entry as a dance major. Unless you were studying with ABT or an elite dance company you had to enter from scratch. I would spend so many lunch hours sneaking up to the 9th floor to watch the dance classes. I even remember going to speak with the head of the dance department to see if there was anyway I could take some of the dance classes but the program didn’t allow that. I ended up majoring in dance in college but I remember spending my 3 years at LaG wishing I was a dance major.
