Very nice setup Ed! Thank you. I was a little skeptical of the rake on such a low downforce car. I thought it might be very tail happy, but was pleasantly surprised. It helps rotate the car but is very manageable. I only spun once but I was pushing before the tires got warm. The track is definitely grippier. I was in the high 1:00.9’s after 3 laps while still heavy on fuel. I only ran one tank, and managed a 1:00.7 with opt 0.3. There is certainly more time, so I’d bet the high IR guys may actually be in the 59’s in races. Looking forward to the new season. I didn’t race enough last season. Hope to catch you out there.

I love racing this car in the rain and this week has been a blast. When doing these type of races you need to really tone down your expectations of being as competetive as you are in the dry. That doesn't mean that it isn't fun (because who doesn't like running at the top of the field in the dry every week?) but it is a different kind of fun which is trying to find the best lines in a changing track. These types of races are more of a mental battle because you can't drive like on a dry track and just keep hitting the same brake markers, apexes and lines the same lap after lap. It is so much more dynamic and that is what I love about this car in the wet.

I quite enjoy tsukuba in the rain. Looking at your race i can't help but notice you're very conservative with your steering inputs in the rain, kinda like you're trying to be as smooth or more with it as in the dry. Im the complete opposite, im working that thing like there's no tomorrow, fishing for grip like mad and correcting / catching just about every corner.
@edwardbuchanan87128 күн бұрын
@rekt4guud134 the wet needs confidence and I am lacking. The limit is a knife edge and I obviously seem to not want to get cut 🙃
@rekt4guud13427 күн бұрын
@@edwardbuchanan871 knife edge for sure, but imho it's much easier to catch it in the rain after losing it if the reaction time is quick enough, like it's much more forgiving than in the dry where if you start spinning the momentum just pushes you into a full spin, doesn't really do that in the rain. Edit: might be an iracing thing, or the fact it's the same tires in the dry and the wet, cause irl ik on wet tires camber is usually lower in the wet, but in iracing it almost feels like you want camber so you can "slice" through wet patch and get contact with the tarmac instead of aquaplaning, kinda how irl if you have 235 tires in the summer you'll want 195 in winter to reduce the contact patch allowing to cut through the snow. Edit edit xD : something to do with how much the weight is distributed across the tire, smaller tires means more weight per inch of contact patch.

There seem to be two ways to take T7-T8. In real life you would cut as much as possible in T7 and hug the inside through T8. If I have someone behind me I prefer that line in iRacing as well. However, it is also possible to send it harder into T7 and go a bit wider before T8. It is then crucial to be able to slow the car down and get some rotation before the track drops away. If you nail it, you can be super early on the throttle and use the extra grip in the compression to sling shot out of the corner. It seems to be a bit of an iRacing line though. Or perhaps a low power, no aero car line. I usually race a monster with 10 times the power and aero on the real track, so it is "slightly" different :P
@rekt4guud134Ай бұрын
@@FredrikSoerlie don't have other references than iracing so wouldn't know, i just know the way the corner is shaped when going with the inner line there is a moment of hesitation on the throttle that allows the weight of the car to go back to center very early in t8 and that causes understeer trying to get a fast exit. It does feel like 10 times safer tho, really sketchy going to other line but damn does it feel good when nailing it.

@youtubedriver6887 so unless it's a big hill, I do find shifting on the blue light faster. It's not going to drop your lap time by anything significant. Some tracks I get away with 1L less, again not a huge difference but every bit helps 👍 . Thanks for the support
