If she was able to work with frank for the next four years and work through the issues she had with him, she could've really cleaned house the next two years. Sad even after landing the triple axel at the Olympics, I get this feeling she never really reached her full potential when I watch this program. That's my armchair analysis though.

After so many years I still watch this video over and over for that gorgeous layback spin. Truly amazing, very few skaters can hold similar positions even today. So centered, and look at her speed. I simply can't believe it was even possible! Wow.

She isn't Yuna, but she is still beautiful.

Probably it will not happen but I want her to bring back this sp for the Olympic season.

Her long limbs and grace and Ina Bauer are reminiscent of Yuna at that age. Just amazing... Hope she keeps on keepin on despite recent setbacks.

What happened to this Mirai? She was full of fire and skated incredibly well. 2010 was her prime. After 2010, she just kept on going downhill..and now she looks out of shape and unpolished.

+braveheart20121 - Her body changed, for one thing. I think she lost the love of the sport for a while.
@3Axel19968 жыл бұрын
+braveheart20121 And it became more challenging for her with her jumps. She at this point developed the reputation of an under-rotater, so the Tech Specs scrutinize her jumps at every competition, many times at the major competitions, she lost about 10 to 20 pts because of the under-rotations and, mainly, the more costly downgrades. It became very frustrating for her, and it wasn't that she didn't try to resolve her jumping issues either.

Without a doubt one of the greatest layback spins. The speed, duration, and flexibility is just incredible! And rightfully so, +1.50 GOE and all +3 from the judges.
@officeaddict338 жыл бұрын
+B Brooks - Yes, lovely layback and the duration is remarkable too!
@vistaprime6 жыл бұрын
well she is no longer artistic. she no longer does that lay back or that amazing ina bauer. She should have stayed with Frank Caroll.
@jorgebonilla22344 жыл бұрын
Which shows you what a biased joke scoring usually is because at the olympics they barely gave her +2 for her amazing spins

By far my favorite Mirai Nagasu performance :)
@MsJubjubbird10 жыл бұрын
she needs a better choreographer. the steps seem to be done over the top of the music, rather than with it. Ina Bauer isn't Kim's signature move. Ina Bauer into a double axle is Kim's signature move. it was unusual at the time she debuted it because your take off foot is behind you when it needs to be in front. now everyone does it because you get points for difficulty.
@MsJubjubbird10 жыл бұрын
oh I agree she was a brilliant skater here. technically she was great. the choreography itself just didn't fit the music, like he choreographer hadn't really listened properly, even though she was putting a lot into the PCS, and she could have got better scores if she'd had a better choreographer.
@parismatch694210 жыл бұрын
I agree, it was a great performance, her spins are amazing, but the choreography seemed overwrought and over the top.

Such a flawless performance...her jumps were fully rotated, no edge violations..triple lutz on a perfect back outside edge, and put a triple-toe on the end.I think??..fabulous triple flip as well..best she ever looked up to that point..Go Mirai...do it again in 2014!!

***** Yulia's really flexible but she's so keen on showing off her flexibility she doesn't get the teardrop shape that you're meant to have with your Bielmann.

I love the BBC commentators. I'll always believe that Mirai should have been in the top 3 after the SP. And she deserved the bronze. In earlier Olympics both of her programs would have won her gold.

Ina Bauer is Yuna Kim's signature move!? I've never heard of it... Maybe only in her home country... Anyway, I agree with you. Mirai's Ina is much better. Hers is one of the most beautiful Ina as well as Shizuka Arakawa's.

With all due respect, you've got to be kidding me. Scott sounds like he's straining to take a crap with each skater's jump, and the constant nattering on (along with Bezic's worthless prattling) throughout the programs all but ruin the magic on the ice. The Brits know how to convey that excitement without going insane and allow the skaters' accomplishments to shine through.

She has very little competitive spirit....therefore will not go very far in her carrier . She is too mellow...gotta be more tough Mirai mentally p.s British commentators are without a doubt the best in the whole world, I always try to look for videos to have these guys commenting, otherwise it is twice as less exciting to watch
@muscleboi4use14 жыл бұрын
@faeryquene Yes, I do... they are Simon Reed and Chris Howarth for British Eurosport (and sometimes Nicky Slater) and for BBC it is often Sue Barker (I know, a former tennis player winner of the French Open!) and Robin Cousins (and sometimes Barry Davies). I am British and followed figure skating for years. Hope this helps!
@64mgbtm14 жыл бұрын
she has such a graceful flow to her skating that's so pleasing to the eye...truly a special talent. just hope that soon she'll be able to put it all together and be rewarded top place on international rink for her fabulous performance.

At the Olympics imo she should have been in 3rd or 4th after the SP. I was so happy when she won the SP at Worlds-well-deserved! :)

@dsfddsgh On one of the skating forums someone mentioned Robin Cousins often does commentary but I'm not sure if he's doing so here.
@dsfddsgh14 жыл бұрын
@faeryquene Not sure of their names but they are so much better then the commentators here in the states. They actually shut up during the skating and are very knowledgeable about the sport.
@faeryquene14 жыл бұрын
Does anyone know who the commentators are? :)
@faeryquene14 жыл бұрын
Love it. This is by far Mirai's best SP choreo to date. Blissful silence from the British commentators unlike the endless yapping of Scott Hamilton & Co. :)

They were silent because this was a highlights replay not the live broadcast commentary lol
