Sometimes you get bad and good batches. It's possible you just got a different thinner and flow improver to pigment ratio.

@SickFigsMinis yeah, it's like 3 years old so maybe they changed it. I kinda want to stick it to a drill and make *sure* it's properly mixed (and put a few nail polish bearings in there for good measure) before I really give up on it. I just remember it coming out super pink, but I'd never painted it over a white base coat.

I've had some, I think they're an overall step in the right direction but nowhere near as good as a lot of people have made them out to be in my opinion.

For the same reason I find that I am less judgemental about my own Battletech Color schemes, whereas with warhammer they have to be perfect for what I paid for them. Welcome, I am also a warhammer refugee.

Hi thanks. It's hard to source decals to the scale or theme of Battletech but I have been looking into printing my own on decal sheets, which presents its own challenges. I hope to make a video on that in the coming year.

Additionally if you're interested in this kinda thing, there was a Strike at Vallejo over work conditions and pay. The workers got their end of the deal fulfilled here thankfully, you might expect prices to slightly increase in the future as a result though.

@@AlexDenton0451 Yea unfortunately with the rollout of Army Painter's "Fanatic" range, the new Army Painters that most stores stock are actually MORE expensive than Vallejos now as well.

@SickFigsMinis it's unfortunate, however I have heard good things about them from a lot of people. And hey they're both still cheaper than Citadel for the most part lol.

@@AlexDenton0451 I've used them. They range from leaps and bounds better than the originals to no better or worse, but no loss in quality at all. However my gripe is that very few of them actually color match their original counterparts and that's frustrating if you just want to keep using the paints you have but can't find any more.

@@SickFigsMinis that's unfortunate, I started using my roommate's old Army Painter stuff so I definitely felt that struggle of not finding 1 for 1 colors as I swapped to almost all Vallejo.

I actually have a painting handle I usually use that I got free in an issue of a magazine. I just didn't use it because it wasn't part of the budget for this video.

I can imagine that's because this is a video for painting a "first" miniature. There are other videos in the channel that show patterns and details.

It's like @k1ngdeth said, this is a first miniature tutorial intended for new players with a limited budget established in the last video. There were neither funds nor the intention to afford time to detailing when the basics needed to be established under the assumption this is someone's first painting project.

I prefer an airbrush simply because you can spray coat acryllic clearcoat and have it set within the hour as opposed to waiting overnight, but the Vallejo 100% Resin Acryllic Matte I listed here can also be thinned with water and brushed on and cured within 30 minutes max. How durable would you say your Rustoleum is out of curiosity?

@SickFigsMinis as a primer? I'd say very durable BUT with my work flow I prime a ton of models at once (I primed my entire battalion KS fulfilment in like less than an hour) and let it sit for several days, usually can't get around to painting anything until the next weekend. The full cure is usable after like a day, though it feels slightly tacky, it's fine for the Vallejo paint. I primed my entire KS and just primed another 3 lances (two Big MAC packs and GDL pack) but haven't painted but a fraction of any. I did some KS up as Red Lancers though. Edit: also I typically do at least a lance at a time (more than once a company at a time) all the same scheme all a step at at time. Prime everything. Base coat everything, wash everything, dry bush, details, cockpits, clear coats, basing, etc. Doing all the units in parallel for a given step. Since I hand mix colors keeps the color more consistent

Yeah I used what I thought were big brushes for miniature painting for a couple years before I realized you probably just want big brushes in general, and I'm not going back. I have a copy of the support lance myself, I love the Cyclops sculpt in it and always have room for a Spider in my army lists.

@@SickFigsMinis the cyclops and, more notably, the dragon are two mechs I really like - unfortunately both suffer from either armor or armament issues when compared to other mechs in their tonnage and the friends I have playing tabletop right now have *a lot* of clan mechs

@@an_ordinary_goose It was notably the Grand Dragons and similar heavies of the Draconis Combine which broke the back of Clan Smoke Jaguar along with Nova Cat reinforcements at the Battle of Luthien, the largest mech battle since the Star League Civil war up until that point in the Clan Invasion.

Yeah. Especially the Game of Armored Combat, its mechs are pretty ubiquitous across all Inner Sphere factions in virtually every time period in the setting. I own multiple copies.

Yea I army build more than I play. I have a company of Draconis Combine Sword of Light with thematically accurate Panther/Jenner Spam backed up by heavier duelist-centric mechs like Wolverines and a Hunchback. I can't get enough of the Hunchback.

I just got on today. They fucked up the AUG scope and the game is now completely unplayable for me because of that.
