Is the frame smooth inside the holes or tapered or have a flange?

By the way, best install video! I’ve been looking for a while trying to figure out which slingshot to start with
@SLINGSHOTFEVERpullshootrepeat14 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching. It is a straight 19mm hole with smooth sides. The Ocularis Plugs have a slight taper to them.
@SLINGSHOTFEVERpullshootrepeat14 күн бұрын
I would choose another model for starting out. The round tips make consistent aiming more difficult than models with square tips. 😉

Can you use the finger and thumb brace grip on this frame? Or just it be pinch grip?
@SLINGSHOTFEVERpullshootrepeat14 күн бұрын
If you have smaller hands, you may be able to thumb support hold but pinch grip is the most comfortable for me.

i have a cheap olight lep which i bought to mount on my simple shot slingshot frame because night shooting is suitable for closer range and so it pairs up well with a wrist rocket because heavier bands and ammunition is also better for closer range so i like that setup but the light was designed for a pistol and i haven’t done any night shooting with it on my pistol yet but it mounts up and it’s pretty convincing. i think it was under $100 so i might look around for a better one but an lep is a white laser so it looks like a very focused spotlight beam which projects a long distance so you could almost use just the flashlight to aim with but also my red dot picks up ambient light and for some reason it works really well with the lep without having to turn the red dot on and i think it’s because the light is bouncing straight back because of how focused and bright the beam of light is. the one i got even thought it is super bright it is only 300 lumins but i got it because it was the cheapest one available for mounting to a slingshot frame so there’s got to be something better out there somewhere but for under $100 i would say it is quite nice!
@SLINGSHOTFEVERpullshootrepeat19 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching. Depending on your area, a red or green light may work best. Here in Michigan, the white light spooks game easily. I did mount it on my Hammer XT and it worked great!

I am a beginner at hunting with sling shots, I am retired and I have become an addict with this thing. I practice with the 3/8” clay. I’m not sure but I think I it would take a pigeon or squirrel.
@SLINGSHOTFEVERpullshootrepeat28 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching. I would avoid using clay ammo, even for pest control. It is not perfectly round so accuracy can be a problem. It moves fast but is very light so the energy delivered to the target is not always the best. That is not to say at close range clay is not lethal. I hope that makes sense.

@phild9813Ай бұрын
Curious if your intention was to drift into a high shoulder/spine shot, or if you normally just go lower into the soft vitals (heart/lung) with the 223?
@SLINGSHOTFEVERpullshootrepeatАй бұрын
The shot was just behind the shoulder on the side toward the camera and exited the far shoulder due to the quartering away angle. It was above the heart hitting the big arteries and both lungs inches below the spine. (I have great video and pictures but do not want to get flagged for graphic content, even though it is so very educational! It tells us so much more than gel can.) I always aim for the triangular "pocket" regardless of what I'm using. I've taken deer with black powder revolver, crossbow, airgun, shotgun, and rifle with this shot placement. Only one deer went over 100 yards due to a very low shot with an airgun. The extreme cold had dropped the air pressure and I had not looked at it. My impact was about 7 inches low. I did get the deer but it did go over 100 yards. With this aimpoint, there is room for error as well as it being a great spot to hit with all the vitals. If your impact is 3-5 inches low you take the heart and lungs still. If 3-5 inches high you get lungs up to or spine, as for 3-5 inches or more right and left, your shot still is double lung. (All from a broadside view and the right to left changes depending on the the deer is facing.) Thanks for watching and the question. I hope that helps answer it for you. Maybe an aimpoimt video is needed. 🤔
@rdsii64Ай бұрын
The question is does a 223 work for deer. That is the wrong question. A 22LR works for elk if you can get close enough to guarantee a hit through the ear canal. The question is should you. The answer is "it depends". The 223 is good enough for anything with a pulse you can get a tag for. The catch is you have have field craft to get close enough. You also need the trigger discipline to not push a bad shot. I took a 223 on my first sheep hunt. 75 grain speer gold dots work real good when you launch them at 2800 FPS. That ram dropped like a stone. The shot was from about 80 yards. So should you hunt deer with a 223? If you hold up your end, its more than enough.
@SLINGSHOTFEVERpullshootrepeatАй бұрын
You are absolutely correct! Heck, a .177 caliber pellet can be lethal for all sorts of things it should not be used for. Just like with slingshots, shot placement is the key to a clean ethical kill. Thank you for watching and commenting!

I am a rifle/ gun shooter. As a kid I would hunt birds with a slingshot. That time l knew nothing about aming with an anchor point or use steel or lead shots. I would just pick up round pebbles and use them. Then three years ago a friend gifted me a slingshot and started all over again. This time l watched you tube videos for aiming and in less than a week l got pretty good. I preffer the TTF but now l am trying Ott and butterfly style. Not very good at the moment but hope to improve with time.

From an 80 year-old newbie, thanks for a great lesson on left or right misses. I’ve been an observer of this sport for some time, but when Nathan made his plea for help from Helene, I decided to jump in and give it a try. I was an archery hunter before I got too old to do it, so my learning curve was pretty short. I quickly realized that coming to full draw with a slingshot isn’t a whole lot different than drawing down on a bull elk at 20 yards. For this old man, that’s a really good thing and brings back lots of great memories. I bought a Scout X and an LT2, and both are great fun to shoot. Love those fiber optic sights. I was consistently missing right until I found this video, and you fixed me right up. Thanks again; this is a very helpful video. 😎

Why not forge your own darts? I doubt it would be hard, scrap steel is cheap. Random metal all over the place too. For hunting, just about any common metal(if you can get it to fly straight) would be enough to penetrate skin and bone
@SLINGSHOTFEVERpullshootrepeat3 ай бұрын
Oh, you absolutely can but why bother with it when such good ones are readily available? I have too many other things to do besides that, the risk of a trial dart not working correctly could result in taking it to the hand. That's the main reason I don't bother with making darts.

Great video, I especially liked your demonstration on quick release and speed. I recently got simpleshots Beanflip ocularis and the scout x, right away I could tell I loved the latex of their band sets. For me to get their latex in Canada a 2 meter roll cost $21 + $1 shipping insurance and shipping cost $23 lol $45 which still isn't that bad depending on how many band sets I could make....damn I did the math while typing this, a $1 a set give or take a few cents.
@SLINGSHOTFEVERpullshootrepeat3 ай бұрын
Thank you! That shipping definitely increases the cost for you BUT it is still way cheaper than buying bands. Plus, you can tailor them to your wants, likes, or needs be it more power or a lighter draw weight. Check out my video on if you should tie your own bands. I give a cost analytics to bandsets made from a roll depending on the taper, but you'll need to add the extra when you do your math.

Being a very old beginner I have been desperately trying to find out why I was always shooting left and all I was constantly seeing was the experts demonstrating their skills and how they do it. All very watchable but no help to me . Then this morning I found this video and all my dreams have come true. Pardon the language but it's bloody marvelous !!! I went to my discards drawer and dug out the chinese slingshots I first bought, because they looked good but discarded after many frame and finger strikes !!! I bought several other one as used by the experts and still can't hit anything that isn't to the right of where I am aiming (good groups though !!! ) So I have one set up now like the video one and found that I don't hit the frame , or me, and have moved nearer the bull instantly. Still work needed but now I know what I have to do......which is easier said than done Thank you, Thank you, Thank you

The taper is 15mm x 20mm so the difference is 5mm. This means that you need to taper it by 2.5mm off each side to make it a even true taper.

Thank you for the video. But can you give me some tips for shooting over 20m? I realized that I need to change reference point to a lower position at the upper fork. But is there a way to always aim at the top corner of the fork? The point is while hunting I can not exactly tell that the target is 20m away or 25m away.
@SLINGSHOTFEVERpullshootrepeat6 ай бұрын
Faster shooting bands will have the ammo on a flatter trajectory so you can use the same aimpoint but you do need to hold over the target most of the time for distance shooting to allow for the ammo drop. Practice at different distances helps a lot.
