You can eliminate half of this including the real by using a cleat next to your seat. Just run the line through the loop on the trolley to the cleat. A proper hitch on a cleat is quick to remove

Like the engineering on this. I am building a system for my Old Town 136. Ordered all the parts I need and looking forward to getting it done. As I stated on your other video this idea puts my 106 Old Town a candidate for motorized kayaking. Using a New Port 35 with 50ah lithium battery in the front hatch. with through the hull wiring.

Hey sorry for the dumb question but this will be my first time drilling/mounting a mod on my kayak. Do I just do a pilot hole large enough for the 1/4-20 then screw in the bolt, washer and nut? What length bolt? Thank you!!!
@TahoeYakFisherАй бұрын
@hprice86 no worries, happy to help. Yes a 1/4" drill bit should work great and will be tight that you will basically thread the bolt through the plastic of the hull then add the washer and nut. This is going to be somewhat self sealing, not that necessary but why not. I think 1 3/4" is the length is used. Good luck!

I see a lot of video using trolly motor and they never talk about the battery run time. How long would your battery last you? Not full throttle but casually, on a full fishing day

First of all, thank you for your great videos. I have a Recon 120 and your videos have helped me building out my kayak. My knowledge of electronics is basic. Can you explain why you used different gauge wires? How would I know which guage to use and where to step up or down. Wondering if I have to do the same. Thanks!
@TahoeYakFisher6 ай бұрын
The longer the wires are, the bigger they need to be in order to reduce resistance and, in turn, heat. Increasing gauge towards the battery. There is a chart on the Minn Kota website that has recommended gauge based on length that is very useful. If you are going to run wires from bow to stern, as I did, you will definitely want to step up the gauge. If you can not find the minn kota chart lmk and I will send you a link or a picture of it. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

The primary reason I quit selling them was the effort of acquiring circuit boards. I would purchase circuit boards from two or three vendors until I found good ones, and then I would purchase all that vendor had. The only failures I had were attributed to customers hooking them up backwards... the unit I am using is at least 3-4 years old and still going strong!

@TahoeYakFisher7 ай бұрын
The tray is not screwed down. The battery is strapped to the bracket above, and the tray provides a stable base. It could be omitted, but at least it provides a rub buffer between the battery and the hull.
