After you squeeze the female all the eggs, how do you know all eggs are out, so she will be back to healthy again?

🤔 put the bio-rings/bio-balls on the bottom. That will allow for better flow and retention of the larger debris. Put the mats/foam/sponges on top of the bio-rings/bio-balls to catch the smaller debris. At a drain to the bottom ( lover 1-2”) of the bucket to use to clean the filter. By opening the drain the muck on the bottom will flow through the drain thus allowing for the filter to go for longer periods of time without having to disassemble to be cleaned. Hope this info helps, good luck with your fish.

You have crossed a goldfish type that has wen with a type without wen. I assume you have raised the offspring to adulthood. Have any of these, or all of these f1 offspring developed wen? If so, did it developed similar in size and shape as the wen the one parent had?

It's called Matala, it's a nigh-indestructible filter media that's pretty inexpensive. In my experience, the black(most coarse) is only good for bacteria growth and filtering out leaves and twigs. Matala is good because you never need to replace it, and rarely need to clean it.
