I just came back from Thailand (must Thai training) love your take on Melbourne. I’m only 7 months late to your video but this was great! I’m in Fitzroy where you when to the pub - it’s a very Asian city and big food city absolutely! Brilliant!
@TJStories4 күн бұрын
That's awesome that you came to Thailand to train for Muay Thai (I've been wanting to try it for awhile now) and that you live in Fitzroy (nice and chill neiborhood). And thanks for your message! I see from your KZbin handle, you also listen to K-pop :)
@kpops1684 күн бұрын
@ no the K-pop reference is a joke. I listen to punk and death metal. Ha! Muay Thai (ignore my previous typo) is really popular here and the training in Thailand is just so much fun. I go a few times a year in between work gigs. I just commented as your enthusiasm for food was very impressive and it was such a positive video. Glad you enjoyed its so nice to have really positive tourists here.

📌 Millennial’s Grown-up Halloween (Bangkok) When I was younger, I used to love dressing up for Halloween, going out to bars and dancing in the clubs. Nowadays, I host small dinner parties at home to welcome the season of Autumn by inviting a few close friends over. I prefer having meaningful time with family and a few close friends over clubbing with party friends… Is it just me or does anyone else feel like this too? Happy Autumn everyone :)

Hey TJ! I'm French-Swiss. I discovered you about a year ago before my first trip to Thailand. Your videos have been very useful in helping me make wise decisions to improve the trip, and you're one of the few on KZbin who shares authentic feelings about life there as an expat. And it worked: by the end of 2025, we’re moving to Bangkok. I hope we have the opportunity to cross paths. Thank you for all your useful work, which played a part in helping us take the next step! Keep going, be strong and never give up 💪💪💪

Thank you so much for your encouraging message Lamcirconflexe and I'm glad to hear my stories have been helpful for you. I'm also excited for your plan to move here! Just like moving to any new city/country, it will take some time to get used to the expat life here but once you get used to the laid back (friendly) culture and make some friends, you will fit right in :) good luck to you and let me know any time if you have any questions about life in Bangkok.

Yunomori Sukhumvit used to be my favorite until it was more and more crowded esp during the weekends. It's even hard to use the locker as there would always be someone next to you using their locker, and hard to find a spot in the pool if you want to follow recommended steps. Now Let's Relax is my go to

Who told you that a dishwasher is luxury and very rare to have in bangkok??? Are you serious ?? Some of them not even ฿10k THB
@TJStoriesАй бұрын
I've looked at over 100 apartments (condo projects in Bangkok alone), having a dishwasher in an apartment/condo is not very common in Thailand, therefore, when you buy / rent a place here, unless it's a luxury condo, it doesn't come as standard. If you want a dishwasher, you normally have to buy and install it yourself.

📌2024 Update : Unless you have insurance that covers outpatient treatments or you are looking for specific major surgery/doctor, I can NO longer recommend Bumrungrad. I went on 3 separate occasions with my friend: 1. laparoscopic appendectomy (2022) - stayed over night, fully covered by insurance, the surgery was very precise, worth the high price 2. to get skin rash checked (2023) - the first dermatologist didn't know what it was (less than 3 min) and asked us to goto another department but we were charged double consultation fees + charged for every single small things (like bandage, tape...etc) 3. Emergency (2024) (for a deep cut that needed 8 stitches) - way overpriced around 20k+THB... way overcharged again. Some departments/doctors are good but for most cases, this hospital is very greedy (more so than other international hospitals in Bangkok), Bumrungrad cares more about making money than about treating patients. My expat friends recommended Rama 9 hospital and Chula university hospital for minor / ER treatments for similar level of service in English but at the fraction of cost.

Yes, it usually happens when you live in the same city for a long time. I moved to Bangkok many years ago and I seldom walk around the city now unless friends are visiting but when I do, I find some old and new awesome places that remind me why I came to love this place. And yes, I love how Melbourne coffee culture also brings people together just like how dimsum / afternoon tea brings people together :) thanks for the message @sweetwaterdream and have a great weekend!
