Honestly, it is so freaking difficult, and there are so many things you have to consider. If I remember correctly, the first draft of this video I tried posting was about 14 minutes long because I wanted to show more of the scenes than just the kiss to provide context. GMMTV did not like that, so I had to cut it down to what it is now and add filters to the images to change the look a bit. I even sped up some of the audio just a tad so that it wasn’t so noticeable to viewers, but it would be different enough to post. Unfortunately, GMMTV was absolutely not letting a couple of the kisses be included in the video. At that point, I had to add the Copyright text covering to those clips in order for GMMTV to not take the video down. Copyright with BLs is very difficult, and the different production companies or countries seem to have different levels of strictness. From what I’ve noticed, Domundi typically claims the content as their own, but allows other people to post it. What their claim does is make sure that any money that could be made from that content goes to them. As long as they’re making the money, they don’t seem to care, which is why I am able to have so many Cutie Pie and Zeenunew compilations on my channel. GMMTV is stricter. Unless you have explicit permission from them to use their content, you can never post so much of their content. For reactors, they often can’t post the full episodes. They have to edit the reaction, cover the image a bit or make it such a small percentage of the screen that GMMTV’s AI content ID search doesn’t pick up that the video is there. When they do find that someone has posted their content, they will not just claim it, they will also force KZbin to take down the video or forbid it from becoming a public video on the site. That is what happened to this video at least four times before what you’re seeing was allowed to be posted. What’s nice about GMMTV is that they don’t usually “strike” your channel if they find their content there, so you can usually keep trying to edit the content until it passes as being unique enough to post. But at that point, you have to ask yourself if it’s worth it. The strikes are what you really need to be worried about. If you are not a part of the YT Parter Program, strikes will negatively affect your channel, and if you get three of them, your channel will be deactivated. If there is any BL content you NEED to stay away from posting, it’s Taiwanese and Japanese BL. My channel has been terminated twice, and fortunately, I was able to get it back both times. The first time it happened, I was dumb-founded as I didn’t know the ins and outs of copyright and wasn’t paying attention to my email. I had tried posting kiss compilations of each of the Kiseki: Dear To Me couples. Because I tried posting them at the same time, I automatically got two strikes which meant three for my channel, and it got terminated. When I tell you I was distraught waking up the next morning and felt like a piece of me was missing, I know it sounds pathetic, but it was true. I dedicated essentially that whole dang day to figuring out who to get my channel back. Per KZbin’s suggestion, I reached out to GTV and kindly asked them to remove the strikes and explained I wouldn’t repost the content. They removed one claim that night, and while it would have been nice for them to remove the other one, I am grateful that that claim removal at least allowed me to get my channel back. I tried to familiarize myself with the copyright guidelines on KZbin before I started posting again, and I figured that as long as I altered the content enough, it should be fine. I just need to stay away from GTV content. I also created another channel where I post my videos to first as a kind of test environment. I had posted a HISTORY 4 video on there, and after a day or two, it wasn’t claimed, so I posted it on this channel. It was allowed up at first, but after three days, an organization called 8sian Media Network claimed the content and put a strike on my channel which once again terminated it. I immediately tried contacting 8sian Media Network, but nothing was getting through to them. I did research on the company and it seemed fishy. The website it brought me to was incomplete, and their social media pages hadn’t been active since 2017. I did some research on who actually owns the rights to the HISTORY series, and it was LINE TV. I contacted them and after a week, they finally responded. They said they had licensed the content to 8sian Media Network to share it internationally, and they were able to contact them to have them remove the claim and the strike. That video is actually still on my channel and titled something like “WHEN A BL MENTIONS BL CULTURE,” but you best believe I won’t be touching any HISTORY content anymore. In fact, I’m not dealing with Taiwanese or Japanese content from now on, because they are clearly very strict about who posts it, and I was forced off of KZbin for two weeks because of it. The first copyright strike was given because I had posted a clip of Junseongho from HIS MAN 2 doing ASMR from one of their vlogs. After posting it, it was allowed up for a while. Then, the couple decided to sign with thisplay company, and that company was very strict about people reposting content. Tbh, I didn’t realize it had been taken down until I went to look for it months later to watch and realized it wasn’t there. I still have two active strikes on my channel, and I think I read somewhere that they expire after 90 days, but I’m positive the junseongho strike was more than 90 days ago, and it’s still showing up as active, so what do I know? Based on this experience I have, I would advise you to do research on the show before posting anything about it. Make sure to look for the country of origin and the company that has rights to it, then do research on that company, see if you can find any evidence that they’ve claimed videos in the past. When it comes to We Are, if you’re making all the changes I mentioned in the first paragraph, and it’s still being claimed, it may be because it’s still so new. Or you may want to look into whether the music in the clips is what is being copyrighted. You can find out through KZbin Studio. What’s scary about YT copyright is that anything can be claimed and removed at any time, even if it’s been on your channel for a while already. Even if you’re not making money from it. And you don’t know if that claim could turn into a strike on your channel. When I’ve told people my channel was terminated because of copyright, they’ve scoffed at me. They’ve said it serves me right, and that I shouldn’t be posting other people’s content anyway. It’s easier said than done, especially because this kind of thing is therapy for me. Even though I’m not making money on any of these videos, the engagement is euphoric and makes me feel like I’m a part of this wonderful online community of people who appreciate my contribution to the fandoms. I also don’t understand why companies can’t just claim the content so they’ll get money and leave the actual videos alone (like what Domundi does.) I digress, and I apologize for going off on a tangent. Here’s to hoping we’ll both be lucky with copyright as we move forward on our YT journeys.

KZbin deleted it because it supposedly went against their sex & nudity community guidelines. I’m assuming enough people reported it. I may try to appeal the decision but I’m not sure how. Now, if they end up taking THIS VIDEO down, I’m going to absolutely cry! 😭

If I’m able to find the original filed I’ll upload it again but probably without the uncut scenes because I think that must have been what YT didn’t like.
