You gotta get your hands on one of the old 80s 15 ohm g12-65s. I was able to eventually snag one after some looking. Some say they sound different, but I’ve never had a chance to compare it with a reissue.
@Padreblue112 күн бұрын
@@wootks I have a vintage 8ohm 65 and it’s a lot brighter than the reissues. I’m betting the RIs are closer to that voicing given how scooped they are
@wootksКүн бұрын
@ ah didn’t realize you had both vintage and reissue on hand. Awesome. Any other speakers you are looking for? It seems like those non-vented 80s g12-t75’s might be good even though the later ones have a bad reputation. Speakers I do find frustrating because they do vary a lot over the years. I am currently experimenting with the g12-65 and a DV-77 in a 2x12. The idea being old and new.
@Padreblue11Күн бұрын
@ yeah I actually wanna eventually get some old G12-75s, apparently the scooped ones are the bones of Iced Earth’s tome. But it has to be the early ones since they switched the voicing 2-3 times lol

@ yeah dude no problem! I’m really enjoying mine so far, though I’m tempted to eventually get a reissue IIC+ just because lol How was the high gain of the IIC+ compared to your IV?
@paulrudder65817 күн бұрын
My experience on playing both amps side by side and I’m in c standard tuning (drop Bb) The mk4 is at a 10 and the 2c+ is at 12 if that makes any sense? It’s like the mk4 is a few calories less. You can hear it when they’re side by side but in the context of getting ur jollies from the amp the mk4 holds its own and has the magic. I’m the kinda dude that would rather have a mk4 and all the shit it can do and be in it for a few g’s vs a 1 trick wonder at 5/6-9 grand. To me a 2c+ isn’t justifiable. But the 2c+ guys are weirdos anyhow. Folklore and all that bollocks 💤

Having a heavy tone doesn't necessarily mean drop tubing the instrument. You can have a mean heavy tone in e standard if you use the right eq and amount of distortion.

Anyone who says E standard can't be heavy doesn't understand how to properly use an eq. A riff in E standard with a proper tone will always sound heavier than a riff in drop C or even drop B or drop A with a crappy tone. Excellent video!
