The irony of this is there's a diagram on the bracket showing how to remove it. However the diagram faces internally relative to the smaller rectangle it creates, and so it's pretty much impossible to see until you actually remove the bracket. Thanks so much for the video!

When adding a drive I used a wooden "lolly pop" stick to first press the blue pins away partly from the bay it left enough clearance to let the drive drop straight in and then put the stick against the pins and press them home into the screw recesses. That 2.5 adaptor......thats another thing entirely.

Also why would you install a 5.25 DVD when you have a slim line installed already???

1:09 ib5ifk700-600 bracket on my Dell Precision Tower 7865, felt like I was going to break it if I moved it at all. This video showed me that you just have to pull it and not worry. They pop out pretty easy with the right force. Thanks!

Thanks for your useful video. I would like to supplement the following information. There are 4 pins that hold the drive. It might be difficult to insert the drive into the drive assembly, due to the need to bend the plastic assembly. One trick which I have found is that the pins can actually be pushed inwards (if you exert the appropriate amount of force). This is because the pins are held in place by *rubber*.

Hello... I have a Dell Precision 5820 with 3 x 8GB PC4 2666 RAM, 1 x 16GB PC4 2666 RAM and 1 x 32GB PC4 2666 RAM. What would be the correct layout as the PC is now beeping and not booting. All I did was remove the memory for maintenance and I don't remember the layout? Any ideas?

Removing 2.5inch adapter looks like breaking that little piece, but you have to really force it, it will eventually come out unbroken, LOL

In the dark as to what you did with the screws OFF CAMERA, where it (they?) went and what it (they?) did. All I know is we are clueless as to what purpose it served. All I know, is my OD won't stop and slides in too far and doesnt stop. Next time use a wider angle or move the camera back.

Is that hidden power cable on all of the 5820"s? I was going nuts trying to find a way to get my dvd player some power. I noticed you also had that 8-10 pin power supply slot open too. I have been hoping I could find a cable for that to supply power.

My case must be damaged, because its an absolute female dog to open and I can't get it without risking breaking things. I tried to pry it with a flathead but things were bending that I didn't think should be bending so I gave up. This is classic dell quality, one little cheap crappy plastic switch goes bad and now I have to break into my own PC to get at my drives. Thankfully its a work PC, I'd never spend my own money on any Dell products in the modern age. But that doesn't make it any less frustrating.
@masterworm13 жыл бұрын
There is an unlock button on the interior of the case that you have to push in order to slide the the front panel switch down.

Yeah, trying to remove that little piece for SSD HDs was so difficult b/c I didn't want to break anything. The frustrating part for me with the T7800 is the computer is configured to handle "X" number of SSD drives (standard or M.2) and a certain number of Serial ATA drives. I thought I could just buy 3 fairly inexpensive SSD drives (instead of the full size drives) so it would be a quieter system but NOOOOO!!! In my 7800, the top two drives HAVE TO BE M.2 SSDs and the bottom two can be any combination. In fact, it was the Dell M.2 SSD 1 TB drive that failed...and I'm still waiting to hear back from Dell on what they are going to do to help me out. GREAT VIDEO!!!

Hi Thanks. I have one question: we got exactly the same machine, but then we accidentally pressed the plastic button on the tray which ejected one hard-disk (drive D) while the system is still running. We slided it back and reboot the system, but was unable to detect the drive anymore. Any suggestions?
