Coach was looking out for Randy. They had a serious shot at winning a championship in the fall of '76. A great senior season would've bestowed him a scholarship. Imagine if he excels in college and makes it to the pros. He likely would have been drafted around 1980. Being an NFL QB in the 80's would've provided Randall with a great living and he could build a legacy for himself while also getting paid significantly more than he would have in another career.

Ok, this is going to be random but I really have to thank you for posting this. My younger brother and I loved his scene in the movie, especially when the older coach gets all mad and yells “Randy Floyd! You’re in need of a serious attitude adjustment young man…” we would quote it to each other at random times when walking away. It makes me cry laughter watching this again. My brother took his life 4 years ago and this is the first time I’ve seen it since. Thank you again for a great trip down memory lane ❤️

What Pink doesn’t realize is that he will go from Hero to Zero and lose his so called friends and even the real ones for turning his back on them over the dumb pledge that no one on the team takes seriously anyway. No more parties, no more babes, no more buddies.
@edlawn5481 Жыл бұрын
Which is why Pink said he might have just as well started a band rather than playing football.
@ChargerBullet Жыл бұрын
He would just lose the fake friends on the football team, the ones he didn't really like, anyway (like O'Banion and Benny). Pink was also in some of the honors classes and was friends with Tony, Mike and Cynthia. He also liked hanging out with the stoners like Slater and Pickford.

The coaches don't really care about him; They are on him because he is a star quarterback and using him as their meal ticket. If Floyd broke his arm or something they would eventually turn on him or ignore him. You could see how the coach badmouths "that other crowd" Floyd hangs out with. Why don't they give those students a written pledge also? Because Slater and them aren't on the team and aren't seen as valuable. He doesn't even bat an eye towards Wooderson, a former football player at the same high school, at the end of the movie.
