So... how thin was the ice? It couldn't have been that thin if there was a snowmobile out there. And did you catch any fish?

I quit ice fishing about eight years ago. Just started to develop an overwhelming fear when I would cross the big cracks and eventually lost interest. Now I just fish soft water.

what depth were you fishing and how far out
@thomasscott26015 жыл бұрын
I was about 200 yards from shore and in about 4-6 feet of water.

How cold was it when you flew? And did it fly ok?
@thomasscott26017 жыл бұрын
It was below freezing and it flew great. Aircraft typically fly better in the cold weather due to the air being more dense.

Hi Thomas. Awesome video!! I've been fishing most of my life for bluegill and bass on little private lakes. As of recent I am looking at getting into walleye fishing as I've never done it before. Do you have any tips? I would be open to any suggestions. How deep of water do you usually fish? What type of bait? Do you always troll? etc. From what I hear the Detroit River and Saginaw Bay are great places.

Hi Tyler! The depth we fish changes from season to season. I will usually start out in the early spring, right after the ice goes out, in 3' to 16' of water. The shallower depths are targeted mainly in the evening and at night. The spring night bite in my neck of the woods is phenomenal this time of year. Keep in mind it is not for the faint of heart and it is good to have a seasoned skipper at the helm who knows how to navigate at dark or in fog or has experience on the water he's fishing. Another option in the spring is to cast from shore or use a pair of waders to get a little deeper. I'd pack a small tackle box with 6-10 F18 Rapalas or Thundersticks and hit the water right before the sun went down. Every once in a while we'd get a bonus Steelhead or Brown. Just make sure your waders don't leak! 40 degree water in your waders makes for a short fishing trip.The warm water in the summer pushes the fish into deeper water and the presentation changes as well. For the most part anglers will fish with crawler harnesses on bottom bouncers or snap weights. Plastics, stickbaits, Hot-n-Tots, and spoons will do the job and some prefer this method over meat (crawlers) on harnesses. If you are interested in Walleye fishing I would suggest going to Walleye Central or Michigan Sportsman's website. There is an endless amount of info that will benefit you and make you a better fisherman all around. Good Luck and Tight Lines!
