Go with what works man! Also, some people consider a surplus ACH. (Make sure it's an actual ACH, not a rippoff using the ACH model/name. The ACH shell alone is better in every way than the HHV, and is like, 200$ for the shell alone. The trade off is there's no way to know it's integrity, and it's likely been kicked around by 17 year old recruits for a decade. The padding on the HHV and straps, ect are much much better than any surplus ACH, so maybe the HHV is the way to go. If you already bought it, have no regrets. Your HHV is better than 90% of every helmet used in the military until about 2015. In 2001, the HHV would be a special forces helmet.

This is a great review, well thought out, I was going between a Team Wendy ballistic and an HHV. I'm going with the TW, it'll be more comfortable, last longer - they say up to ten years, and I like the better (probably) quality control. You've earned a new subscriber.
@ranstone2
@ranstone2 6 күн бұрын
Hecc yeah man. You won't regret it. TW is IMHO the best helmet on the market for all around, and I'm comparing that to 3K$ helmets my buddies have. Also, if you care, pressed helmets don't have a shelf life. A TW will last 200 years easily. They say 10 years so that if someone is beating it around in a police locker and leaving it in the weather and sun for 10 years, and it slightly degrades, they can't get sued if it fails. A good helmet like all ballistic armor, has no real shelf life. It's just liability.

Awesome video! Have you realized any new facts about owning either of these ballistic helmets in 2024? I purchased the HHV ATE bump helmet because of the price of $229.00, and it was made in the USA by veterans. Plus, the HHV helmet looks totally cool. As totally as my gas mask, the CM -7M.

I since then have realized the world is going to the pot, and it's better to buy a 300$ HHV helmet that's a tiny bit heavier than a Team Wendy, and spend the remaining money you saved on training. Barrel and Hatchet, Kägwerks, ect. I should have some interesting videos when I finally get back to this channel... Stay armed man! The time for good men to to great deeds approaches! (I did end up selling the HHV, and I use the Wendy now though. I like it.)

I just bought a team Wendy ballistic it was higher rated then the lighter version and $600 cheaper than an opscore which is uncomfortable and has crazy back face deformation as well
@ranstone2
@ranstone2 4 ай бұрын
That Team Wendy you and I own can stop a 7.62x39 ball at 600 meters. Opscore cannot. I love Opscore products, especially their headsets, but I think their helmets are priced higher simply because they're known for military contracts in the US. Good buy man.

Love the video, really great quality I can tell you put a lot of effort into it! It's great seeing a fair review of HHV helmets, most seem to be super biased either for or against it. I just threw together a video (albeit very shitty one) of me ballistic testing one against glancing 5.56 at range. The helmet definitely outperformed my expectations. Of course Team Wendy makes a much better helmet, but for the money HHV doesn't deserve all the hate imo.

Yep. Tools don't make the man. Genuinely, the real reason I switched tot he Team Wendy was when I mounted a GoPro and Comtacs, the HHV was too heavy for my neck. That's really it. I do genuinely worry about China cutting corners though. They're 100% capable of making quality, but the nations ethic of quality control is atrocious. Tofu Dreg buildings and all.. @@ranstone2 Yea heavy helmets suck fo sho. I remember when I got to my first unit in the Marines they were still issuing the LWH (basically a PASGT with better suspension). Needless to say running around with that bitch plus a pvs14 hanging off the front was a nightmare lmao. I'm so glad the whole armor industry as a whole seems to be trending more towards light weight stuff. And yea stuff from china is always sketchy, its too bad that good ol joe biden's economy makes it hard to buy American lol. Thanks for the reply homie, looking forward to watching your next videos!

The magnetic buckles can be a problem for some people especially when their job have to do with airborne operation. Since the HHV have a magnetic buckle the helmet is nonairborne operational because the helmet could come off while in the air. That's the disadvantages of the magnetic buckles but, you could replace the retention system and make it airborne operational.
@ranstone2
@ranstone2 Жыл бұрын
I legit never knew that. That's really good to know. I just don't understand why they added the magnetic buckle in the first place. I don't claim to be an expert; maybe there's a magnetic advantage I'm not aware of, but it seems odd...
@thakuhtoo8877
@thakuhtoo8877 Жыл бұрын
@ranstone2 There are advantages with magnetic buckles, though. For example, you can buckle and unbuckle up your chinstrap with one hand in ease. Plus, it will be easier to buckle up, especially when you have gloves on.

are you able to hand cock this crossbow or is it too narrow?
@ranstone2
@ranstone2 2 жыл бұрын
I can easily do it and it doesn't even hurt my fingers. I'm pretty skinny, so if you think you're stronger than I, you 100% can do it. However, warning, hand cocking can lead to injury of done wrong, you can pinch/cut your fingers pretty bad, and if done asymmetrically, it lowers accuracy. This is true for all crossbows. If you do it, do at your own risk.
@ranstone2
@ranstone2 2 жыл бұрын
I actually had a part where I showed my hand cocking it in the original take, but I edit it out because I was afraid someone would imitate me and hurt themselves. The pulley system is safer for less-trained people.

Though carbon fiber is strong, bolts and arrows aren't exactly designed to be load bearing, their main goal is to be lightweight because speed=power. That can mess with two things, strength and influence. Some material that is heavier would be less influenced by the line behind it, and it would store more energy after being launched. And due to the extra material within the projectile, it would also be inherently stronger that the standard. The downside would be less range, and a more prominent arc, but I doubt that would be to much of an issue considering how far you would realistically be using this (it's not as safe). At least these are my thoughts, I'm just someone who likes to search random stuff up
