I think Donut is going to be like Top Gear UK all over again. It's as simple as, "You can replace people". That's especially true if James were to go join Big Time. I personally stopped watching Top Gear after Jeremy, James and Richard left. They were the reason I watched the show. Their chemistry as not only co-hosts, but as friends. That's what made Donut special, and why they can't just replace them. You can't fake chemistry between hosts. Especially considering how long James has been the face of the channel. If he is leaving, or has left, that's the final nail in the coffin.

It will be a good thing for donut if they lose a little bit and end up with some competition. Competition gives you a point to measure yourself from, now they have a literal direct competitor. Other car channels are different and are competition it isnt the same. I think high car/low car could be a good series the two channels could colab on. One does high the other does low.

Donut got really stale when they stopped making creative videos, then they made a ton of money that kept them afloat on the mindless repeat vids. If you look at the gear head channels that are healthy and doing well, they all do a variety of different videos, mixed media, events, and do minimal merch or are a front from a full service supply (not just shirts and stickers). SuperFastMatt, Bart, the RevZilla Guys, etc. Its really sad that companies that don't need social media for their bottom line make far better videos, take content risks, and ambassador their brandswithout compromising quality. Donut has been sitting on the counter for 2 years doing nothing new and the lack of heart in the office started spilling out to the presenters early last year.
