How'd you get it to where your cutter keeps firing at a cut point even if you look away? Late game upgrade? Or is it modded?
@Takovacs2 ай бұрын
I'm using the splitsaw, not the stinger. The splitsaw, once you fire it, will obliterate any cut point that was within it's reticule at the time.

I play super casually but I can't help wondering why the laser cutter isn't doing more damage. I've detonated fuel tanks by lasering *near* them in the past never mind directly hitting them

@Takovacs4 ай бұрын
This was the best way when the quasars launched, and remains the best way now. Every other method (freezing the pipes with coolant, using upgraded demo charges to break some cut points) takes longer. I'm mostly focused on speed vs. Full salvage, so I do have a bias.
@wendelsantana73325 ай бұрын
this game will be only worth buying if they get a good modding comunity for ships running properly, actualy idk why they did not build the whole game around that, it will add a good amount of variety and replayability to the game

Started playing yesterday and was curious about how master shipbreakers worked. Damn. I'm impressed. At this moment I can't even imagine going 1 quarter of your speed. I started salvaging one of those big boys with qasar thrusters and I'm halfway through with about 5 shifts in already. I have been trying to go for the 100% most of the time but apparently it's not worth it?
@Takovacs5 ай бұрын
It *really* depends on the ship! I'd say to carry on doing what you're doing. I can only do this at this speed *because* I know how to take a ship apart fully and with taking my time.
@DrrZed5 ай бұрын
Okay, TIL a new tech: push-braking. Until this I used suit brakes and hands to stop quick.
@Runsofourlives5 ай бұрын
I'm still very early on in the game so I recognize that my experience so far might not be applicable to some of the higher level ships but I found it easier to move deep into the ship as possible into an area you can cycle depressurize and where you can cut your way out and then pop lose a panel so it stays depressurized without any blowback then repeat chamber by chamber working backwards towards the airlock. It wouldn't work on broken cyclers but otherwise it seems safer than explosive decompression.

Larger holes being less violent is so counterintuitive and also just wrong. If we cut a tiny hole it should be much slower and more gentle. The entire pressure system in this game is so illogical, they just need to make it the same as the real world and it could actually be fun. Like we should be able to connect all pressurised rooms and then use a pressure regulator to slowly depressurise them all, it's exactly how it would work in the real world.
@1mariomaniac2 ай бұрын
No, it makes sense. All the air is coming out anyway, if it's coming out of a smaller hole, it's going to go far faster, and by extension be far more forceful. This is a phenomenon used for rocket engines, it's called the Venturi effect. I kinda agree about the atmosphere regulators though, but that'd make the whole process kinda trivial.

Thanks! I found this video because of the situation where there's two rooms with pressure regulators separated by a single door. These techniques were largely what I was doing already, but the tip about simply opening doors being least destructive was new information. I was always hesitant to do that because I liked to be farther away when initiating an explosive decompression. Might be helpful to know that you can use your hands to hold onto a surface to avoid getting blown around. I wonder if the game takes into account, for instance, depressurizing the largest space first?

@Takovacs Жыл бұрын
The aluminium isn't worth a great deal. So a lot of the time it's not worth salvaging it. When you've got a load of electronics in an aluminium box, put the box in the barge and you save time and earn money!

I just confused the Meckerel method... Went to the engine rool and cut it off while the engine room itself was still pressurized... Death by high speed impact.... Well, leassons learned... (next time gonna remember to depressurized the ship and engine room first 🤦♂)
@1mariomaniac2 ай бұрын
You may want to make sure of two things before attempting that method. 1. Loose items are not in a place that they could potentially fly towards and kill you during depressurization. 2. Hold on tight (Z key near wall/object)

Thanks. This run is a bit scruffy, a later one that I didn't upload has me actually stripping the rear cabin rather than dunking it, and I would refill tethers right at the start because of a weird circumstance with the tethers and the game moving from Early Access to full release.
@metalman4217 Жыл бұрын
I found the using Demo charges on the keel on the front sections will let you split the outer hull like a clam shell and a few tethers can quickly get them sent into the processer. I think I usually melt the big Aluminium inner rings also to make it work. From the there sectioning the inner hull is easy

6:46 Well, I guess it's nice to know that even legends have trouble with the nacelle cowlings trying to go into the furnace.
@Takovacs Жыл бұрын
Well... yeah. Those side pieces sure are a pain, but there are definitely ways to mitigate against it happening. (Tethering from the rear end of the panel to the black and yellow hatched line at the Master Jack side of the processor should both swing the panel around, and cause it to go further before it hits the suction zone. There's a lip on the outside of it that gets caught on an invisible ledge on the processor, and that's what causes the issue. The thruster is heavy, so it needs *a lot* to move it once it's in the processor pull. And thanks for calling me a legend!
@johnbono2384 Жыл бұрын
it just works looks so fun, though!
@mrmiffmiff Жыл бұрын
I still believe that at an actual human being would be able to squeeze through that small space to get behind the thruster and shut off the fuel before separating the thruster from the lines. I genuinely think it's possible and we just can't cuz game
@thebad300 Жыл бұрын
how do you narrow the saw beam like that
@Takovacs Жыл бұрын
I'm unsure what you mean? Rotating it? There isn't a way to narrow it, though it does narrow by comparison if you get close to things.
@xeels2708 Жыл бұрын
@@Takovacs I think he means when you turn the saw beam off earlier so that it doesn''t overspread when cutting close to the reactor or fuel tanks
@Takovacs Жыл бұрын
The thing is, I don't. The splitsaw can only cut things within the two lines for its reticule (particularly, it will cut from edge to edge any surface that the lines bisect, even if those aren't fully within the reticule) I'm not doing anything to shut the beam off, switching tools doesn't stop the cutter cutting what it would, I just switch tools quickly. I am really confused as to what the question is here still.
