This made me crt, I LOVE the show and told Christina I would try to come from NJ. Didn't ge there! Big Regret! I know her and Gina from about 25 years ago when I did shows there. I transitioned into an On Camera Professional Acting career 23 years ago and gave up Theater after performing for 18 years. I Miss the Theater but There is just no money in Theater unless it is Broadway and Acting is my Strength so did not join Equity but Sag/AFtra.

How great to hear all the numbers usually cut out. The leads were great. One suggestion: add a synthizer (sorry about the spelling) to fill out the orchestra, especially the strings and woodwinds. It would have really helped. Who are CM? Hope they are still doing shows!

This is one of the best stage productions of "Showboat" I've ever watched. I remember the very first time I watched "Showboat, I was about 5 years old in 1969. I spent the night at my grandmother's. The original movie with Irene Dunn was the late night movie @ 11:00, and I had been in bed since 8:30. But, I woke up to the sound of the overture, went into the living room & sat on the floor right next to my grandmother. I never moved until it was over. *("Showboat", "The King & I" and "Brigadoon" were my grandmother's favorite musicals. ) What I experienced that night would become the very foundation of my love & passion for musicals & musical theatre. So, I spent the next 30+ years working in musical theatre either performing on stage or playing piano in the orchestra. Retired in 2013 with "Beauty & The Beast" & "Cotton Patch Gospel". Now, I'm in the process of writing a musical version to Alfred Hitchcock's hilarious dark comedy "The Trouble With Harry". I have to tell you, I never realized how difficult a job it is. It gives you a new prospective, appreciation & respect for those who have made a career of writing musicals. Anyways, back to this production. When Gay & Magnolia perform "You Are Love", I lose it. It makes me cry, it's so beautiful & moving. Let's give a huge thanks & appreciation to Brendan Noble for sharing this production with us, by giving him a thumbs up!

@@TheBrendanNoble I mean I don't know the guy but for what it's worth that doesn't mean anything. If someone plays on Broadway for a rock musical such as Rock of Ages or RENT it doesn't mean they're going to do as well with a more classic piece like Show Boat (and vice versa). This show shouldn't be played on a drum kit, that's not how the composers envisioned it, but to the player's credit they probably hired him to do a part that should be played by 2-3 people, leaving him no choice, so given the circumstances he did fine.

This is an amazing production in several ways. The instruments slightly out of tune at times or the lack of sophisticated instrumentations lends a pathos that is true Americana

I just love "Showboat". My Dad always would sing "Ol' Man River" to me when I was a little kid and then I fell in love with this wonderful musical which still has so much meaning for us today regarding racial relations. It was ahead of its time!
