Solano, Cathlea M. BSEd - English 3B The video focuses on the type of curriculum that is currently in practice in schools. It starts with the curriculum recommendation that is suggested by national agencies or professional bodies on what schools should offer to learners. The written curriculum then comes next which is consciously-devised by specialists and educators and then comprises of the documents including lessons and syllabuses that state the learning-teaching contents. The taught curriculum refers to the real learning process that takes place in classroom while the supported curriculum encompasses resources and teaching aids that are crucial in the teaching learning process. Assessed curriculum aims at checking student progress through the assessment methods that is used to ensure that learning achievement is achieved. However, as for the learned curriculum, it provides the outcomes which have been achieved by the students, thus proving their knowledge and skills. The last type of hidden curriculum is one that includes elements of learning which are not intentional but are rather cultural and social practices inherent in the processes of learning and teaching. Combined, all the above sub-topics demonstrate that the development of any curriculum is a multifaceted process that requires alignment of the practices in education with the intended learning outcomes.

These are Recommended Curriculum that construed by educational stakeholders. Written Curriculum is the curriculum that is sanctioned and approved for classroom delivery. They come in the form of course of study, syllabi, modules, books or instructional guides among others and the teacher`s lesson plan. Assessed Curriculum is the tested or evaluated curriculum. Learned Curriculum refers to the learning outcomes achieved by the students. Supported Curriculum must be materials that will help in implementation of the written curriculum. And lastly is the Hidden Curriculum or the unintended curriculum that is not planned, unwritten, unofficial, and often unintended lessons, values, and perspectives that students learn in school. And about the Criteria for selecting Curriculum Content: SELF-SUFFICIENCY this pertains to economic self-sufficieny. SIGNIFICANCE this is the degree to which the curriculum contributes to basic ideas, concepts etc. VALIDITY this refers to the authority of content.

Curriculum comes from the Latin word curere which means race or the course of the race. One of the prescriptive definitions of the curriculum are those that give provision of what ought to happen and they take a form of plan, an intended program or some kind of expect opinion about what needs to take place in the course of study. The supported and assessed curriculum involves using textbooks and online resources, while instructors provide structured lectures. The assessed curriculum evaluates students' understanding of the course through common assessments like midterms, finals, and project-based assessments. The learned curriculum exposes students to real-world tasks or scenarios through project-based activities. Lastly, the hidden curriculum involves collaborative tasks or assignments, allowing students to develop skills in teamwork, cooperation, and socialization. The taught curriculum refers to the teaching methods used by teachers, focusing on making each lesson more interactive and engaging. The supported curriculum highlights the need for students to have access to materials that support their learning process, such as computers and library resources. The assessment curriculum explains how students will be evaluated, emphasizing that teachers must be aware of student diversity, where some students may need more practice in specific topics to pass assessments. The learned curriculum refers to the learning outcomes of the students, where their progress can be observed. Lastly, the hidden curriculum is the unintended curriculum, where students learn by doing or by imitating the behavior of others. So if the teacher is the guide and the curriculum is the path then the teachers become the guide of having better learning experience for the students. This work reveals that Curriculum has two types of definition and they are the Prescriptive definition and the Descriptive definition. Traditional points of view regarding curriculum state that it is a body of subject or subject matter developed by the teachers for the learners to grasp. Thus, for Progressive points of view as according to them curriculum is a listing of school subject, syallabi, course of study and list of courses or specific discipline do not make a curriculum. These can only be called curriculum if the written materials are given life and meaning by the learner.
