The fact that the aesthetic reminds me of another VR game named "Jet Island" by the one MasterIndie just makes the VR prototype even cooler to me. Like, holy shit having VR as early as '06 really changes my perspective as a whole. The fact we can see the first concepts of VR shooters is mesmerizing as it is unbelievable. Thank you for being the industry veteran you are, nothing screams passion more than being early to the party.

That early budget VR setup is absolutely fascinating. It's the kind of solution that seems as though all the individual requirements for such an experience were systematically solved, using the cheapest feasible hardware available at every given juncture. I imagine the two professors involved had to pull from all sorts of disparate skillsets.

@BlamBl00 i dont intend to be, every H3VR modder will agree with me that modding the game at times can be frustrating and im sure anton himself would agree that some things are set up a little strange, like how some weapon systems work and even just catagorizing the weapons anton has said he needed to do some funky things to get it to work, but none the less some of my favorate games are an utter mess just look at barotrama. If you know you know

I guess I didn't realize I completely ignored all VR stuff in the 00's and even early 2010s, right up til The first Oculus Rift, that era. It just didn't seem like it was "there" yet. So I had no idea actual motion control existed this playably before the Rift CV1 etc came along, let alone in 2006. I tend to ignore new tech until they're at a point they can be actually useful to me, like foldable phones or gaming handhelds which are just now becoming viable for me.

Inb4 we have the 2006 demo recreated in h3vr as a new gamemode (or at least the individual guns being recreated in a future update). All jokes aside (although I'd seriously love to somehow play that demo, even if it was a recreation in a future update or even just a mod made by a rather inspired fan), it's crazy how even back in 2006, only a year after the Xbox 360 came out, you were actively making something that was straight up h3vr in the most prototype sense with the most cutting edge and experimental tech of the time. It's like when I saw someone attempt to recreate Jurassic Park Trespasser, that old 1998 game in modern VR, only to realize that game was a straight up modern VR game made in 1998. The devs were so far ahead of time, and it's a shame they didn't have the funding, time or even the basic tech to make that game into what they wanted. I'm glad you were given the opportunity to turn that passion into a fully fledged project.

Dude those professors are legends for putting that art department setup together, and same for the one that put you onto it. Seriously mind blowing to see the barebone concepts that still exist in today's VR, and it's so cool to think all that time ago the seed for H3 was being planted. I hope they got a chance to see your work or at least are aware of the impact their own work had on the future of VR in gaming specifically.

The first VR game I played was essentially 1v1 DOOM with this massive headset and simple controller (no motion tracked hands) in the middle of a mall in what felt like 1999 or thereabouts. It is amazing to see how far VR has come and how your passion for it has evolved from "I wonder how I can do this" to "I wonder how I can do this, but even cooler". I fell in love with H3VR watching stupid reload videos from Jeditobiwan and knew if I ever bought a headset, it would be the first game I got. Well, I got the headset in 2020 and H3VR remains my most played PC game ever! Thank you, Anton, for all your dedication and hard work!
