Annie is the worst character. There’s nothing good about her other than the fact she’s loyal I guess. Problem is, she’s loyal to the Marleyan enemies.
@Brevincampbell1223 күн бұрын
I think the problem Annie has is her story feels a little underdeveloped. I like Annie and I like AruAnnie but the girl is gone for the majority of the series and the way the characters talk things out she doesn’t really have to confront her crimes she committed like Reiner or even Bertoldt did. She got to run away from it all. And while the conversations were nice they also weren’t enough. And having Armin just tell Annie everything while super sweet and romantic does kinda feel like a way to force development

I love Berthold so much! (actually, i love all Marli`s trio since 2season) Thank you for this video, he deserve sooo much more love((( As an introvert myself, i inderstand hov much feelings he hide inside and it hurts so badly😭 The drama of the Marleyan warriors is really difficult. Their country needs them only as weapons, but here, on Paradise, where they are accepted and loved as comrades, they cannot spend a day without a terrible feeling of guilt. Berthold chose to close himself from his feelings, Reiner chose to adapt and lost his mind. But just think what it was like for Bertholdt, when the only friend "on his side" was slowly going crazy next to him, he couldn't do anything, and just had to hold on, keep holding on. Keep doing horrible things. Being so stressed every time we see him. But so stoic in same time! And in the end, there was no one, who could save Berthold, who could help him.. He wasn't even given a redemption arc. HE DESERVE IT Such an amasing anime, really

Levi's expression is one of painful remembrance and satisfaction that he fulfilled the parting promise he had made to Erwin. Erwin and majority of the Scouts presented themselves to be shredded by rocks.. all to get Levi to take down the Beast Titan. While beheading Zeke.. in that moment he was reminded of all their agonising screams, their blood splattered as far as his eyes could see, of the the moment when he had to let Erwin go, of all the young lives lost. Levi had to do it, his eyes bore witness to Zeke's disgusting callousness as he killed humans like their lives were meaningless. Nothing could have changed his mind or his heart that was burdened for so long with the weight of the sacrifices made to get him to that very moment.

My idea about Levi's expression after killing Zeke is that it's him letting go of Erwin. Erwin was important to him, and that goal of fulfilling his promise to kill Zeke is a huge part of Levi's motivation going forwards. Once Zeke is finally dead, the promise is fulfilled, meaning Levi's obligations to Erwin are done now. He has to go find his own way. Sure, he can do that, but Erwin meant a lot to Levi and still does even after his death. To me, that expression is like Levi saying "It's done, Erwin. Now I can let you go." It could also just be that Levi is completely unfulfilled by killing Zeke. Maybe he realises that he feels completely indifferent and doesn't know how to feel about that. Or maybe it's both....But I prefer my first idea. It's a really beautiful panel, honestly...
@quickbinger10584 ай бұрын
I think it's because Zeke essentially killed himself by alerting Levi to his location. Levi probably guessed that he had joined their side and was sacrificing himself basically, which made the kill much less satisfying, he was killing a person now rather than a monster.
@oricoriopauenthusiast4 ай бұрын
@quickbinger1058 I'm not sure if that really changes much. Annie actively helped them and he still can be seen glaring at her. Zeke had never shown remorse for the hundreds of scouts he killed, plus the people he had turned into titans. It might be a part of it, but I don't think Zeke giving away his position would have affected how satisfying it was for Levi to kill Zeke. That being said, I don't think Levi would have found it particularly satisfying anyway.
@quickbinger10584 ай бұрын
@oricoriopauenthusiast That's 100% fair, I do still stand by my interpretation. I also think a part of it is because he has nothing to really live for. Zeke gave his life purpose essentially, but then at the end he finds meaning again and presumably lives a happy life.

@oricoriopauenthusiast Yeah I like to imagine right before he died he saw his loved ones and joined them: Erwin, Hange, Kenny, his Mother, his Squad etc. Perhaps he even had a soft of mentor figure or Fatherly bond with Gabi and Falco, who knows. Hopefully the upcoming spinoff Bad Boy will shed some light on what he's doing after the series.

You could go through the history books of that world and not find anybody nearly as despicable as Bertholdt and Reiner. All other opinions are invalid. He slaughtered innocent people that never did him any harm when he was in the ultimate position to change the status quo. He failed because he's just as cruel as the world he lived in. If he never did what he did, Eren wouldn't have had to do what he did. It was squarely Bertholdt's fault because he had the power and didn't do anything

Fantastic video essay! Consider me a new subscriber! I really enjoyed your analysis. Good editing, good narration, and a really solid deep dive into Zeke. He’s really grown on me after watching the show. It was the moment that Eren “betrayed” him that it really clicked for me how lost he was. When he appreciated the view from the sky before accepting his fate, it dwelled on me for a bit. A man so wrapped up in the wants and affairs of others, that by the time he finally realised he could’ve enjoyed life for himself, the consequences of his actions finally caught up with him in the form of Levi. Looking forward to any new videos!

Zeke's first appearance was scary, very scary. A huge hairy monster with the intelligence of a human being. He could take you in his hands and crush you, something like that was the first thing we saw him do, he unleashed titans on the second strongest soldier of mankind, from here on it was clear that he was not to be trifled with. As the story progresses we hate him more and more, he has fun killing people and even sees killing as a game. But then it is revealed that he is Eren's brother, his own flesh and blood has killed his friends, our hatred for him grows, but the hatred blinds us. Deep down we knew that Zeke was something more than just the cruel beast he pretended to be. What was his mission? How could he be Eren's brother? Why did he enjoy killing? All these questions make his character even better. And then we learn his backstory, we learn about his motivations and somehow we end up liking him (or not).

In my opinion, zeke was in my top 3 characters and he, eren and Reiner carried the plot post time skip. It was very sad when isayama just went back the ema dynamics even tho the show matured past their relationship. For me, zeke was ruined in chapter 137. he was already determined to save the world once he had his final closure with his father which gave him salvation too. It made no sense for him to be pessimistic after failing in 122 and waiting for Armin to teach him about the small things in life so he can kill hinself. 1. zeke already appreciated the small things back in RtS. He never saw life not being valuable but that Eldians live in a hell and should be sacrificed for the world. 2. geishas words should be enough for him, not aruhmin uzumaki. 3. armin never cared for the small things, he was a globalist with big dreams like the ocean. Either end zekes arc in 122 or let the conclusion be different. Giving a theme about „killing each other won’t bring you something good“ but then killing off zeke for a Levi fanservice moment was stupid and Levi should’ve been dead or at least not able to fight after chapter 115. Still, a very good video Binger and even tho it took me long to watch it (I’m not so invested in AoT anymore) I really enjoyed hearing your take
@quickbinger10587 ай бұрын
Regarding your point about Zeke already appreciating small things back in RTS, I address that in the video itself and say that Zeke always had the capacity and desire to embrace life, but was held down by his subconscious desire to deny Grisha of his dream, he was blinded his whole life and Armin opened his eyes. Rest of what you said I don't feel like debating I'm glad you liked the vid, I'm tired af.

I’ve loved Zeke’s character and even more after the events of S4, but I really wished we got to see more of him during the Rumbling. His convo with Armin was a nice callback to his time with Xavier but I wish we got to see him struggling with apathetic view on humanity and his acknowledgement of how our lives can be sustained by simplistic sources of joy

i dont really get how ksavers influence was all so negative on zeke, in the sense that he in a way manipulated zeke into thinking like that. because by the end, after the talk with armin, zeke specifically says that he still doesnt regret the euthanasia plan. so in my opinon, he still agrees with ksaver and in that way, its shown that even after the realization that life isnt meaningless, zeke still agrees that euthanasia is right, the exact idea that ksaver talked about. if we're talking abt the general nihilism that zeke follows, i dont think its that ksaver full on influenced zeke into thinking this way. if your friend tells you about an idea, and you end up agreeing with that idea, i wouldnt call that manipulation or influence to that negative sense. zeke only realizes what his philosophy is, his life views and what he's going through because of ksaver. ksaver wraps it all up so zeke can summarize it all, in my opinion
