It has been real interesting moving after 30 years at our old homestead. I am tempted to move back home but alas the need is great here.

Back woods solar is a great outfit but I purchased everything here and there. The EG4 server rack batteries came from Signature Solar.

@@offgridinthepacificnorthwe3210 I got my 5k system from them. they have great customer support....walked me thru the whole installation process. really like being off grid at my cabin. rainwater catchment and solar is great.

Just an old experiment. I do not use the generators anymore. I have a 30 kilowatt lithium battery bank and lots of solar panels.

@offgridinthepacificnorthwe3210 I have 17000 watts of solar, 3- 24 volt 1000amp forklift batteries, 1500 watt wind turbine, 6 solar thermal solar panels with radiant heat and used oil furnace, but since we are completely offgrid and use every appliance and electrical thing that normal houses use even ac system, electric stove etc, we have to use a DC generator in winter months a few days out of the month. I would imagine if we were conservative about things, probably wouldn't have to. I do have a 10kw military generator, but never had to use it. I have two military trucks that I did use slave cables and jumper to the batteries to charge up once to try it out, since they are 24 volt vehicles, and worked pretty good. Just like having a back up, to a back up, to a back up. I'm a little paranoid sometimes lol.

@sethtaylorm925 nice system. There is no electrical service in our area. I did use a little diesel last winter during December but hopefully with the bigger battery bank we installed in February the generator will be a thing of the past. I have not even come close to needing the geny since the upgrade. That said my backup generators are MEP-016D and MEP-026A Even though we have a modern home we only use 6 kilowatts a day. The system will make 32 kilowatts a day but we just do not use it. We heat with wood and cook with propane. 3 years ago we moved to the sunny side of the Cascade Mountains. At our old homestead (the one in the video) we would have 70 days in a row with no appreciable solar gain. That is when I was experimenting with different types of DC generators including PMA. Over here on the sunny side fuel efficiency is just not a factor.
