what is the screw type and size you use to take off the back cover on the Catalyst? TIA

hi there fellow instructor, that was me! Great lap considering this is only your second time. You are right that you really need to turn in early and hug the inside for more grip at T9 since it's off camber. Also try to hold off adding too much throttle too early at T5 so that you can apply full throttle earlier on exit. Can't wait to see you at our next BMW GVC event!

I ran my first hobby race at this track back in 2010. The organization that organized the event is called ‘The 24 Hours of LeMons’. They’re a hobby racing organization who’s name is a parody of the famous race held in France. By the way, who’s that lady’s voice that I hear talking in this video?
@laurentiltonpca Жыл бұрын
The “lady’s voice” is the Catalyst’s Race Coach

Was the inside line for the Old Ram cutoff faster for you? Will it work for my nose heavy car?
@gcomotors2 жыл бұрын
Yes and yes. If you set up for a mid- to inside entry, you can actually get a lot of the turning done under braking, making it an increasing radius corner. The entry is a bit blind so it's an act of faith the first few times.

Where did you get the tether you reshaped and screwed on doesn’t seem to be I. The Amazon collection you listed or at least not I. The photos

Search for 12 inch steel tether. Better solution however is the 3D printed clip from Thingiverse. See www.thingiverse.com/thing:4746675

Where can we down load the 3D print mount ? How much will that cost ?

It's free to download from Thingiverse.com. The link is in the notes to the video.

Well done! I have used my Catalyst the last two track outings I had. I like your knowledge of how to add audio prompts for a certain opportunity, or all opportunities. You drill in on brake data well too. Lots to learn! Thanks

I have just modified a RAM mount (which is either a copy of the Garmin or vice verse - without the slim mag mount so needs modifying). Anyhow, my point is the clip-on cage end doesn’t have to be bolted on because it clips quite securely in place and saves undoing the ball joint and removing the power and camera cables and tether (if you used it).
@gcomotors3 жыл бұрын
Ultimately, that's the route I went as well. I had a RAM ball mount for my phone and I just swap out the Garmin cage mount when I'm at the track.

This is fantastic. Do you by any chance have a part number for the cable or the size of the eye end on the cable tether cable?

How does the cage itself mount to the car, screw down on hard surface?
@gcomotors3 жыл бұрын
A couple of options. You can use the suction mount that ships with the unit, or you can use the ball mount that screws down to a hard surface.

I have the same problem. What did you end up doing?
@gcomotors5 жыл бұрын
It took a while to figure out, but my problem was a failed motor mount. Usually when the motor mount fails, it’s obvious because the fluid spills out and is visible, but this one was contained within the body of the mount and only became evident when we removed the bottom bolt. Rather than go with OEM, I got a Magnaflow header with cat. I also had the welds around the flex joint of the new one reinforced before installation. Those two things seem to have taken care of my problems.

What size screws did you use after the plastic was drilled off? Is it possible to use screws for all the old drilled off plastic posts instead of resoldering it?
@tibcsiceman13 жыл бұрын
Hi, I ordered after market replacement ones from Ali express. I have grey interior the colour is close enough. I couldnt bother restoring the originals. I received mounting screws with the new set so that is awesome. I wouldnt want to solder the plastic. The screws that came in the pack has washers included too.

Update: After a single track day, the flex joint broke. The length of the collectors means there isn’t much room for a large enough flex joint. Time to test another design.

So if I buy this, will I pop a code? How can I avoid a code with the resonator that is included?
@gcomotors5 жыл бұрын
Yes you will get a code for the downstream O2 sensor. You can try using a J-style fitting with the smallest restriction insert (store.specr53.com/products/vibrant-performance-j-style-o2-sensor-restrictor-fitting.html). My car is still street legal so I have to get it smogged. I had a cat fabricated from this Flowmaster unit (store.specr53.com/products/flowmaster-universal-catalytic-converter.html)

1. Beadmaker is faster and easier to apply. 2. Beadmaker is way way way slicker. 3. PNS has way way way better beading and hydrophobicity. 4. PNS will last months longer than Beadmaker. 5. Better is subjective so it’s up to what you prefer

So far both are holding up equally well, so the advantage goes to Bead Maker for ease of application. I’m hoping to be able to wash the car again in the next week if we get a break in the snow storms to see how well they both worked over the winter.

Shift points I'd assume, yellow being "get ready for it" green being the sweet spot and red being over revving
@MrDragonPig6 жыл бұрын
Some race and rally cars are fitted with a light that only turns on when the revs are optimal for upshifting. Presumably this is added to help the driver change perfectly without losing momentum from low revs and without wearing the engine from high revs.
