Salam. That's great! I'd recommend starting with Introduction to Persian by Wheeler Thackston. Also, you may find my video on the script helpful, if you haven't learned it yet. Let me know how your studies go and feel free to ask any questions you have along the way.

Most of those words I can understand because Bengali language dictionary have so many Persian words! We Bengalis apply those words in every day life ❤

Persian was court language in Bengal Sultanate. Urdu was court language in East Pakistan.

Hi!!! 👋 👋 I speak Urdu and started initially learning Arabic. This really improved my urdu as well as it is a composite language. 😊 Indirectly, i also learned Persian somewhat. 🕵🕵 I am still focusing on increasing mainly the arabic language skills because it can express emotions very fluently with fewer words. 😌😌 Thats my personal goal for now.😌🤲💯 Also, you learn a lot of hidden things as well if you investigate these three languages together in particular. 😉☺️😇😮

I speak urdu and arabic i think people overstress the commonality between thesse languages they are very different you need years to learn arabic. farsi ( I don't speak but I would not think its very easy)as well more similar than arabic but you need to dedicate time and dilligently study it to become fluent urdu hindi they are similar but the accents are completely different and the way we Pakistanis speak it is completely different than the indians. In colloquial urdu now we have added a lot of english words and words from other languages to the language

You're right--they are different and we should to appreciate their unique histories and literary traditions. Nevertheless, they do overlap in interesting ways, and it can be very useful to know all of them. For example, classical Persian writers knew Arabic very well, and many important Persian works (e.g. Sadi's Gulistan) contain much Arabic. Similarly many important Urdu works contain much Persian.

I m Pakistani my native language is urdu and i also fluent in Persian beacause our urdu poet use 90% vocabulary from Persian , Persian such a beautiful language ,apart from urdu and Persian , my mother tongue is balochi and 50% to 60% balochi and faarsi are similar if you know balochi then you can speak and understand faarsi easily thats why i can speak faarsi flunetly urdu and faarsi are less similar but balochi and faarsi almost same

I m from Singapore. I grew up speaking Malay. However, I can now speak Urdu fluently, and smatter a few words in Persian. I learn these languages by comparing the grammar structures against English. Then I learn the Vocabulary to apply them. I took my family to visit Iran too some years ago to test out my Persian. It wasn't too bad.

The syntax of Urdu and Persian is similar so I try to keep that in mind. The words sounds are little different.

“Farsi” is used to refer to the variety of Persian that is spoken in Iran. The term is used to distinguish it from“Dari” (the variety of Persian spoke in Afghanistan) and “Tajik” (the variety of Persian spoke in Tajikistan). The situation is a similar with English, which has “American,” “Australian,” and “British” varieties.

@@AhliZabanSalaam. Actually Persian is simply the English word for the language spoken in Persia, which Persians themselves call “Farsi” in their language. The terms Dari and Tajiki are also Persian and therefore also Farsi. In modern times we refer to only the Persian spoken in Iran as Farsi but that’s not really accurate because speakers of “Dari” and “Tajiki” also refer to their language Farsi. The three are all really the same language with slightly different pronunciations and are mutually intelligible.

@muslim_first but a few people in Pakistan know formal urdu, Dr.Muhammad Iqbal’s Poetry have standard version of Iqbal, most urdu or Hindi speaker will not understand many many words of Iqbal’s Poetry.

There are so many benefits that technology brings with it that I believe can only enhance our language learning experience. As a philosophy/ethics major I find the discourse fascinating and I hope much can be done to harness its capabilities in preserving languages that could potentially become extinct. Wonderful video!
