Might want to check wastgate on old turbo. Turbo is spooling but if your gate is open thee entire time, that energy is dumping right out of exhaust that’s why the truck feels turdish

Very Nice Project! I just bought a 74 Charger myself, mines not in near as bad of shape as this one. I live in Hawaii but bought it off the net in San Diego, I was looking at one here but classic cars are EXPENSIVE here, it was cheaper for me to fly to San Diego to buy my car and have it shipped over here that it was to buy the same care just in a different color than it was to buy one here. Mines got a 318, which is fine with me, living on Oahu I won't be able to open it up much anyway, I mean I can drive completely around the island in 2 and half hours..... The only thing I don't like is the paint color, it's Antique Bronze (Metallic Brown) with dark tan interior and while I generally love the color I just don't like it on the "B Body Chargers". I'm going to paint it B5 Blue but leave the interior the way it is because other than needing a good cleaning it 99% perfect.

Best turbo i found for a mildly tune 12v was a super b 57/65/14 spool just as fast as the stock hx35 or faster and and egts were way down that was on my 96 5 speed truck. Had 90hp injectors no fuel plate 4k gov springs and some timing.

@@samsonandrew7652 it gets hot when I'm pulling a load. Not too heavy of a load either. I'm thinking it's the thermostat. And/or an exhaust leak... It happened about a month ago. It was so hot, I parked it I'll get to it when it cools off here in a bit. Probably nothing I'm hoping... Otherwise she runs good and strong... 💪 Otherwise, he runs strong.... @@samsonandrew7652 coming up on red...super close... I back out of it right away put on the heat and try to get it to cool it does come down a bit and I parked it.. I actually noticed it happened one time prior.. It seems when I'm pulling a load it wants to get hot. The load isn't that heavy just a water buffalo. And I'm not flooring it... I was thinking about taking it for a test run with out hauling anything and see what he does. I'll probably do that before I rip out the thermostat and put a new one. (Some weeks ago I was watching your video about your turbo lack of power and potentially could overheat, I was thinking maybe I have a leak somewhere but I don't think it would do this.. Maybe I'm wrong)

I think your little yellow truck would be awesome with a 4bt Cummins and axles from an early 80's Dodge w150. Leave it a half ton but 4 wheel drive. Mans-mission of your choice.

4BT swap it. Hang a turbo, add a 10 speed and you're truckin'!!!! Gotta be some decent bread trucks in Cali. Or some tractor and swathers had the 4B/4BT in them.

I meant keep it old school like it was back in the day, I’ve been obsessed with trucks since I can remember I’ll never forget the day my dad showed up with a 66 c30 flatbed dually we called it the rack. my love for trucks began that day. I just love the grunt of an old v8 and a 4 spd granny low nothing like it
